How is Nick Saban Like an Escalator?

Re-stock. Re-load. All these terms are used to express the understanding that there is an ebb and flow to the success of a college football team. Last year a team might have lost a lot of experience, but this year they got some quality recruits, so next year, look out. For Alabama, the same dynamics apply. The difference with Alabama is that the baseline of success around which those ebbs and flows occur is not flat. I believe that the program building that CNS is doing is quietly making our baseline into an upward slope, like walking on an escalator, as opposed to the flat line that characterizes most of our competition. There are the facilities, the training practices, the "process" culture, and every year these things are improved upon, added to. I really feel that at this point, assuming the team is psychologically sound, we can compete for all the marbles even when all the stars aren't aligned for us. And when they do align, I think we will be absurdly better than our competition. This is going to shock some of our opponents. If this keeps up, in 3 years other teams will find that we are unbeatable even in "down years". This is a very special time to be an Alabama fan.
