Better offensive mind: Guz Malzahn or Lane Kiffin? Paul Finebaum has his answer; what's yours?
Paul Finebaum and Charles from Reeltown argued over who they think is the better offensive mind in college football, or in the state of Alabama for that matter.

Quote
"I don't even think Gus Malzahn is the best offensive mind in the state of Alabama today," Finebaum said.

"Who in the heck do you think is?" Charles asked.

"Lane Kiffin," Finebaum said. "I would take Lane Kiffin this year at Alabama over what Gus Malzahn did at Auburn."

Charles then told Finebaum, "You're one of the biggest Bams, I know," once again insinuating Finebaum is in the tank for the Crimson Tide. ...

Silly argument.
Both are incredible.  But Finebaum should be told that Malzahn had his success while juggling a HC job; Kiffin couldn't do that.

I'm just hoping that Kiffin stays for another year.  Worries me that he hasn't been busy recruiting yet, or so it seems.

I am really curious on one thing next year if that could be said at this point. Who will be the QB and how Coach Kiffin handles him? RTR!

I think Coker will be ready.  He looked much better a couple of weeks ago.  But we have a lot of talent coming up behind him, so he better be ready.

I'll bet Blake Sims' talents made an impression on Coach Saban, and Kiffin will petition for a dual system.  Our starter will be a pro-style QB, and we'll have a backup with the skill sets of Sims for those 3rd-down, run-pass options.

Although he's a big guy, Coker actually has the ability to run too.

His Senior year in H.S., running a "pro-style offense," he carried the football 61 times for 355 yards and five TDs.

But I doubt he is as elusive as Sims.

The major question is who put the ball in the end zone?  A lot of Gus's success was due to poor technique on Bama's part.  The two major tehniques were poor DB play at times along with poor technique on the d line edge allowing Marshall to get outside and extend plays.

Charles from Reeltown ranted about how a Gus Malzahn offensive supported by a Muschamp defense

Every boog I know is saying this.

They are also saying that they were never confident in boogerU's chances v. BAMA.

I did not watch the game with any of them, but I am sure they were all kissing their sisters after that 3rd INT.

Has anyone considered that the reason their defense is not good is b/c the offense moves so quickly?

less time offense on field = more time defense on field = defense gets tired

That is a problem that is associated with all spread wide open teams.  I would love to see the breakdown of the recruited players.  I could be wrong, but I bet they go after offensive players a lot harder than defensive players.  Plus I am not sure their safety wanted to make a tackle the other night.

On rivals 7 of AU 19 recruits are defensive players.  Also, they have gone the Juco route to get some players who may be gone after 1 year.

All true.

But that genius Malzahn has solved all problems by dismissing the Def Coord.

Hey, a 3-star player at Auburn can steal a car just as fast as a 5-star.   Grin
