This thread will be going into the Hall of Fame later on tonight, since it is the very first thread over here.  So anybody that wants to be in should go ahead and post if you haven't already.  If you have not registered yet you better hurry.

BTW, our Hall of Fame forum is probably going to be called Bryant Museum.  We are probably going to go with a campus theme for our forum names.  I will probably rename the General forum to the Quad in a little while.

This is true.  I guess that is why it is an option you can turn on or off.  But as long as they all map to the same general idea, I think we will be OK.  For example, maybe a certain poster wants his smiley faces to be cats, while another guy might want dogs.  As long as both convey the same idea it should be fine.

It could get pretty bad though if a smile on one set was actually a picture of a frown in another set.  We can play it by ear for a little while and if it becomes a problem I can turn if back off.

Nice.  I will know who to turn to if the site gets invaded by pron guy.   

Since it is on the U, I think a lot of people won't be able to get it.  We will need to be sure to have an in game thread going for those guys.

Good news!  This forum software allows each user to pick their own smiley set.  So we don't all have to agree on the same ones.  I just enabled this feature and installed a new set to play with.  The new set looks much better than the original ones.

Now if you go to your profile section, then go to "Look and Layout Preferences", you can pick which set you want to use.  Better yet... I think this link will work for everybody:  Click Here  EDIT:  Sorry that link only works for me.     My bad.

I will add a few more sets to pick from when we find some more good ones.  If they are designed to work with Simple Machines Forum it is trivial to install them.  If not we can still use them but I will have to do a little work to get them installed.

We really need some new emoticons.  Does anybody have any suggestions?  Maybe we can post a few links and take a poll.

Also, it is really easy to add new ones if we have graphics.  For example I might setup rtr to be some really cool Roll Tide Roll graphic.  I will make some custom ones eventually once the dust settles.  But for now maybe we can just find some better looking stock graphics to use.

What does everyone want to use for our posting levels?  Right now I have this:

The others are still at the default for the forum software.

I think we can have bunches of these if we want.  I know it is a pain to have to wait until 500 posts to go to the next level.  It seems like you will never get there.  Maybe we have bunches of levels that are closer together.

I am open to suggestions.

No problem.  That is interesting to know.  I bet other people may see that problem too.  The reason I asked about screen size is I think you might see a problem like that if you have a pretty small screen.  My screen is 1920 x 1080 so I have plenty of room.

I have a basic site up and going now, but it will be a total waste if we can't get some of the good posters to come over here and contribute. I will commit to keeping it up for at least a year to give it time to take off, but it will be up to the bama community to make it into something useful.
