I didn't see any legit reason for the tasings, or beating kids with night sticks when they're already on the ground.

I get that it's a dumb idea to argue with the police, but that can't excuse the police's behavior.  They should have been more professional and not acted in anger.

That's what Saban's daughter would have done.

WHAT WOULD SABAN HAVE DONE (had his players met with him about a boycott)??
I do not know. Is this a trick question? If the administration was dragging their response, CNS may have backed his players.

Not condoning the behavior of either side, but...

THE POLICE WERE PRESENT BECAUSE OF A NOISE COMPLAINT.  Anyone watching the video could see that one person (that loud-mouthed beach) was the problem.    Seriously, it was middle of the night.  People who live in apartments need to respect their neighbors.  If you don't honor that respect, you should be kicked out.

HAD THE PEOPLE COOPERATED AND AGREED TO QUIETEN DOWN, NOBODY WOULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED.  Instead, the idiots in the apartment started spouting pseudo-lawyer arguments, constitutional rights, and refusing to acknowledge that police had a right to be there.

BOTTOM LINE: When the police arrive, address them politely.  You won't go to jail.

I haven't commented on this story yet (other than pointing out that I am glad the students are white) because there are still a lot of missing details.  For example, I am hearing that the police were called out to the scene at 3:18 AM the night after the LSU game because of a noise complaint, but the noise was in the apartment ABOVE the students in the video.  I am also hearing that the officer just opened the door and walked into the apartment while the kids were in a back room watching a movie.

I have no idea if either of those points are true, but if they are it may change my perspective on what happened.  I suspect that neither of those points are accurate and are probably just B.S. put out by the students and their friends, but I am taking a wait and see approach at this point.

I will say this though, it is pretty clear that those kids are spoiled brats that don't respect authority.  Telling the officer that you are respecting his authority then proceeding to debate him as to whether or not he has the authority to be there is NOT respecting his authority.  You will never win arguing with a police officer, even if you think the officer is clearly wrong.  So the best thing to do is politely obey any reasonable request, including being arrested, then let your attorney prosecute the case against the police if they screwed up.  Once the officer has decided to arrest you, you ARE going to jail.  Do you want to add resisting arrest onto the list of charges?

The kids thought they were having a debate and winning with their superior intellect.  The officer was just letting them run their mouths while waiting for his buddies to show up.

We have raised a whole generation that believes that they are entitled and can do whatever they want without consequences.  In the span of less than 100 years we have gone from the Greatest Generation to the Look At Me Millennials.

I just gave you an e-cred for being spot on. Here is further evidence. The first one is on the Mizzou campus. The 2nd and 3rd one at Yale.

The responding officer was wearing a body camera, reports CBS affiliate WHNT. Anderson said during the press conference Monday that the footage will be released to the public.

"We'll be open, honest, and as transparent as possible. We take this very seriously," Anderson said. "I take it very personally. I've put a lot of effort over 21 years and a lot of other people have put a lot of effort in building the great reputation for the Tuscaloosa Police Department in our community. And I don't want to see that reputation destroyed by a careless or senseless act."

2, I watched a couple of minutes of that first video and that is all I could stand.  It just makes me want to cry.  Who raised these people?  No one, I'm guessing.  So we are left with a generation of "Look at Me Millennials", raised by twitter and facebook, mentored by instagram and snapchat.  I suppose there are one or two that occasionally have an independent thought.  The rest are just lemmings following the ping from the echo chamber.

They think when they eat a hamburger it is an event worthy of photographing and sharing with the world.  "Hey, look at me, I just ate at [fill in the blank with hip restaurant du jour].  But if they protest on public property, the press is not allowed to be there and take pictures.

If they are going to debate the constitution, they should read it and understand it first.  The journalist has just as much of a right to be there as they do.  Maybe someone should post the text of the constitution on facebook.  But it would have to be someone cool or they still won't read it.

Dottie and I pray for all our first responders daily because when they are called they shown as in the wrong from the start. If nothing was wrong they would not have been called and they wouldn't be there. Hence: Respect. RTR!
