Title: Hope for the Best: Alabama versus Ole Miss
Post by: bama57 on October 03, 2014, 02:55:39 PM
Alabama has owned Ole Miss for much of the series...but this year could be different. With veteran gunslinger Bo Wallace in his final attempt at dethroning Alabama and a defense that is easily the best of the last decade, can the Rebels really beat Alabama? You bet they can.
"What makes Freddy Krueger such a horrible character? What makes him scare you to death? You can't get rid of the guy. He never goes away." - Nick Saban

Relentlessness. That golden standard to which Coach Nick Saban aspires, and to which he pushes his players in pursuit of legend, championships...and, dare we say, perfection.

Ole miss has always been a thorn in the flesh to us. I remember the Bear use to have a hard time about every 3 years when Johnny Vaught was down there. This Ole Miss team scares me because they are so good and they really know it. I bet even Oregon who is said by ESPN guys to be so great, and tough they wouldn't want to play Ole miss Rebels. RTR!

We have lost to them 8 times in the history of the series. We have lost twice since the SEC was divided into divisions in 1992. We have a 10 game winning streak. They have been no more of a thorn in our flesh than Vanderbilt.

This Ole Miss team looks good just like last year. They were undefeated before we beat them 25-0. They went on to lose 5 games and barely beat Ga Tech in the Music City Bowl.

They have not played any one yet. I think we have better players, better coaches and are a better team. I look for them to play us close before we pull away for a comfortable win in the 2nd half.

That sounds about right.  They may get to the upper echelon someday with their current coaching staff, maybe even this year, but until they do and prove it on the field I won't waste any time worrying about them.

The FL game told us how good this team could be.  The OM game will tell us how good they WANT to be.  With a week off the prepare, I like our chances.  But Bama's got to be ready to play from the first snap.  That is not always the case.

Turnovers, time of possession and injuries will be key.

And penalties.  Don't forget the penalties...  :wall:

I think Smitty's right.  Alabama should win this game easily.  Ole Miss has some talent, but there are holes in their defense, and a blind man at the helm on offense.

Barring UF-scale turnovers, this one should be a wide margin.  And with Ole Miss ranked 11th, that makes us look EVEN BETTER!

^ That right duhr. There will be two categories of highlights in this game. Bama players punching into to the end zone through land and air, and the pretty faces of co-eds with tear streaked make-up standing next to their crestfallen, bow-tie-clad boyfriends.
