nothing to do with potatoes , had them for dinner ...
it's the blue field horse heads from the potatoville that suck

I like fried , baked , sweet , boiled , crinkle , dinner , hashed , scattered ,covered and smothered

IT'S THAT DAMNED BLUE FIELD !
IT MAKES ME CRAZY I TELL YA' !!!!!

can you DIG it ?

btw ... if you are ever in Yakima Washington and buy a box of apples and they tell you
that the apples are "ca" apples ... there not from California

 Cheesy

One town here has a Strawberry Festival in mid May. This town is about halfway between my house and CNS's neck of the woods. Anyway, strawberries aren't in season there for another month. Big bowls of red, ripe, and juicy looking strawberries,-- all from Cali.

tip ... if strawberries start to grow that white fuzzy hair stuff on em'
pour some ammonia on a rag and close it up with the berries
a 48 foot 102 inch wide stainless steel refrigerated Utility Trailer works great as a enclosure
it's like a trip to the strawberry barber shop
not sure why , but it happens to the berries a lot on the trip east
usually somewhere between the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans for some reason ...

How does that work? The refrigeration runs off the tractor motor or independently?

the Thermo-King unit on the trailer is stand alone
has a 50 gal. fuel tank under the trailer
it monitors the temperature you set it at and starts and stops when needed
works just like your house a/c only it runs off a diesel motor on the front of the trailer
it will keep a constant temp in the trailer regardless of the ambient temps outside
from below zero on up ...

Are most of them diesel---I would have guessed propane. I'm thinking of the reefer units being used as morgues in NOLA after Katrina.

I never had any other than the diesel powered  Thermo-King
they use to run all the time then advanced to the auto start/shutdown system as
fuel got higher ...
I remember the day diesel went to $0.89.9  a gallon , I almost had a heart attack .
boy how thing have changed ....
fuel for the reefer didn't have road use tax on it though , it was about half price
so , you know , every chance a driver got , the reefer pump hose went in the truck tank  Embarrassed
now they put dye in the off road fuel , get caught with it in the truck the fine is pretty high ...
that stopped that little trick ...

We've been running our personal trucks off of the rig diesel tank for years. Guys even added auxillary tanks to run off the free diesel. Last I heard, it was so bad in Texas they could take your truck-- or some crazy fine close to that.

yeah "don't mess with Texas"   Laughing

you ain't got a lot to worry about in a regular truck like a f250-350 / chevy or whatnot
the DOT inspections the tractor trailers have to go through is a different story

free is always good , especially when that crap got up to $5 bucks a gallon  Shocked
ya'll are lucky ...

I have a friend that works for Chevron , he is in the diesel fuel plant
he tells me the actual fuel is not what is driving the price up
it is all the additives they put in it to make it more environmentally friendly
go figure ... I like clean air a lot , but dang ... find a cheaper additive ?

Let's say back 2.5 years ago, if you had asked, I probably could not have told you when was the last time I had paid for fuel. lol But the fines started inching up. At the same time, they quit the 'only checking big trucks' policy and started checking P/Us. Listen to this song-- the line "takin' fuel from the tanks on the short ...". The Oil Co. Rep on location was filling his too, so he looked the other way. The roughnecks would come over and get my truck and fill it for me, so one of 'em could sit in the AC awhile. It was always wink-wink.

we probably didn't help matters much , the guys were hitting the off road stuff pretty hard ...

one thing for sure ... if you got it ... it came on a truck ...
and without the fuel the truck don't come  ...

got a meeting early in the am ... just saw it's 1am   Shocked
