We got off to a slow start and that hurt us. We are only down 6. We need a good 2nd half. We can beat these guys.

We were down 13 early, but we have outscored them since then. Plus, Releford didn't score until nearly the end of the half.

Game was tied, Bama had the ball with about 20 seconds left, took a questionable shot, maybe a bit too soon, Cincy got the ball back with 6 seconds left, called timeout, then passed ball in bounds, dribbled down the court, made a fall back jump shot as the buzzer sounded.

Close, but no win.

We let one get away, but this Tide team is the real deal. Looking forward to the season.

We played Cincy down to the final shot on their home floor. They hit a tough shot with no time remaining on the clock to get the win. We had several opportunities to take control of the game but let it slip away. Our team is young and we will learn from this. We made a big, strong, physical team play our style of game and that is encouraging. I like what I see from this team.

We play Dayton at home on Wednesday before taking 10 days off. I assume finals is the reason for the long break. We travel to Richmond to play VCU on the 15th.

I thought the game was today and missed it, that's what I get for thinking. Tough loss but as some of you stated, it was one that they coulda shoulda won. It's just a matter of time before this team will have to be reckoned with by the big boys and I'm so looking forward to that day.

The basketball game overlapped with the football game.  The only way I caught the end was switching channels during commercial and listening to my wife's complaints that we might miss something live on the football end.  (We have double play, so I could always rewind on the football end.)  Looking back, Bama had the ball with 40 secs left, so had to take a shot with time still on the clock.  Releford drove to the basketball with time running out, and took an off-balance shot a bit too far from the basket that was blocked.  The commentators said he should have taken the extra dribble and would have seen open men on the weak side.  Cincy executed on their final six seconds, hitting the fall away shot at the buzzer.

Bama outscored Cincy in the second half, and really since letting Cincy get a big lead at the start of the game.  Once they settled down, they played toe-to-toe with Cincy with a chance for the victory at the end.  It was a pretty impressive performance against an undefeated, ranked Big East team on their home court.  Hopefully Bama's young team will take away some valuable lessons from the game.

Engstrom out with knee injury, but I have no idea what happened.

 Sad
Someone brushed him-- no real collision. I have no idea why he was in the game to start with.
