Title: College Football Final

Just show SportsCenter.

Well, I searched for another college football show last night and could not find anything.  SportsCenter was showing baseball highlights for goodness sakes.  So I ended up watching this today.

Here is Joey Galloway's top 6 playoff selections:

1. Ohio State
2. UCLA
3. TCU
4. Auburn
5. Michigan State
6. Baylor

Where do you even start?

Just cancel the show if they can't do any better than that.  Whatever happened to Trevor Matich?  If he doesn't want to work late on Saturday, just do the show on Monday evening.  I would rather wait 2 days to get good coverage of all the other teams than to stay up late to watch this horse manure.

Michigan St. plays Oregon next Saturday, so that will change. I'm surprised he doesn't have 4 Big Ten teams in his top 6.

Yes that show was terrible and we couldn't watch it.

Next week, just go to sleep, wake up Sunday morning at 7 a.m. on ESPNU  try "College Football Sunday." hosted by Bill Patrick and Mike Mayock.  It's not College Football Final of old, but much better than the current version, and had Mark May as one of the commentators this morning.

It's just like the polls.
Voters (like this guy) pick teams with the easiest schedules, plus rank one SEC team (prolly picked Aubs because they play us at the farm).

Same ole problem; teams undefeated will get ranked highest, even if their schedule stinks.

Thanks for the tip.  I will set the DVR and probably watch it on Sunday afternoon.

I watched the SEC channel and the coverage there was fairly good. The kanell boy and joey galloway are not sports people to me. They played some but they weren't that good. now, this year i didn't see Holtz anywhere so he must be gone. Mark may was ABC with John what's name Saunders I think. They made a good pair as far as i could see. RTR!

I just noticed that I still had College Football Live from Thursday on the DVR so I decided to watch it for a little bit to see if Trevor Matich was still on there.  He was, along with Todd McShay.  They pretty much nailed everything that would happen this week.  When talking about upsets, they said BYU over Nebraska, Temple over Penn State, and Utah over Michigan.  When talking about the Bama game, they pretty much nailed that too.  The actual game played out pretty much the way they said it would.

CP, they are both saying that Ohio State will win, but it seems to be a toss up as to whether or not they will cover.  McShay thinks they will cover but it will be close.  Matich didn't say definitively but he was very hesitant to agree they would cover.  He rattled off a bunch of reasons why Virginia Tech will make it a closer game than a lot of people expect.

:dunno:

I am actually thinking about changing my pick to Tech.  :lol2:

Amazing isn't it? They can't seem to grasp that playing 9-10 below average teams with 1 or 2 tough ones and going undefeated is not better than beating 6-8 goods teams but lose 1 game.

For what it is worth, Mark May actually predicted VT to win on the College Football Sunday show.  The College Gameday crowd also thought VT would make a close game out of it.  And Bleacher Report thinks VT will beat the spread.

Ohio State has suspended 4 players, including DE Joey Bosa, HB Jalin Marshall, Dontre Wilson and WR Corey Smith.  These suspensions were for marijuana and/or academics.  So there is some lack of focus in Ohio.  Two of the players, Bosa and Marshall, are considered "key."

And VT has lock down corners, which is why they were able to get to the QB and stop the run game against OSU last year, without suffering the consequences of a long completion.  VT's record last year is misleading, with player injuries after the OSU game.

I don't think OSU suffers much post-championship letdown, at least for this game, as VT embarrassed OSU on their home field last year for their only loss.  But OSU players may not have worked as hard this summer, which is evidenced by the key player suspensions.

All in all, it is a tougher pick than might seem.  Bamarae isn't confident either, despite her trash talk (unless she is just trying to sucker me in.)

Personally, I think it will be similar to the Wisconsin v. Bama game, with VT making a game out of it early.  They question is whether VT can hang with OSU for 4 quarters, and I'm not sure that they have the depth.

There are enough questions surrounding OSU that I would pick VT at the current Vegas line, which is 14 1/2 points and allows for a late 4th quarter TD by VT even if they can't completely hang with OSU in the second half.  But at 13 points, it makes VT a harder pick, as OSU will work to get and maintain a 2 TD lead.

Well that didn't take long.  I don't see College Football Final on the programming guide for tonight.  Did they cancel it already after that miserable show last week?  :lol2:

They do have a listing for College Football Scoreboard.  Hopefully that is the replacement with a totally different crew.

I guess after that Joey Galloway top 6 they decided to just give up.

Last year, showings of "College Football Scoreboard" were actually College Football Final.  Not sure why they had a separate name.  Watch at your own risk.

I still recommend College Football Sunday on ESPNU Sunday Morning.

They didn't want to show their beloved Oregon losing. Also, they would have to mention that the Notre Dame QB broke his ankle & will miss season.

Thanks again for the tip.  I was actually setting the DVR for College Football Sunday when I noticed that College Football Final was missing from the guide.

I'm not claiming it is awesome or anything like that, but still much better than that Trash TV you were watching last week.   :lol2:

I would be happy with just a SportsCenter style show with the whole hour being dedicated to college football.

That's what I thought, with Joe Tessitore and Joey Galloway.  They used the same name last year for some of the CFF showings.

You think Galloway still has Auburn?  He said he wouldn't drop anyone if they kept winning (which is really stupid for a preseason poll I think).    ???

We will see.  As bad as it is, I can't help but watch to see all of the days highlights.

He sort of acknowledged the stupidity of the Auburn pick by pretending to pick them No. 1.
