Well, the NCAA sure took care of Ohio State and the Big Ten in this case. The next time they go after ANY SEC school, I hope that school sues the hell out of the NCAA. That includes Auburn & Tennessee.

They're a repeat offender as Bama was and wasn't looking down the barrel of a gun with the pealties that they received. There has been a double standard for many years concerning what some can do and others can't without breaking one of the almighty rules of the NCAA.

I think that Bama comes off probation this coming June, I hope and pray that they don't do anything that would bring the NCAA into the picture before then. I still think the Mason Dixon Line plays a lot into who gets punished and the severity of it. JMO  ;)

What gets me is they were in the repeat-violator window. They should have been slammed unmercifully.

One of these days someone is gonna walk in there and shoot every last one of those SOBs. Then they'll all be saying, "We never saw that one coming", or, "They seemed like such an even handed enforcement committee." LOL

I don't mean to nauseate any one but this was on ESPN...

It was a sobering blow to Ohio State and athletic director Gene Smith, who through a lengthy NCAA investigation had maintained there was no way the Buckeyes would be banned from a bowl game.

"We are surprised and disappointed with the NCAA's decision," Smith said in a statement. "However, we have decided not to appeal the decision because we need to move forward as an institution. We recognize that this is a challenging time in intercollegiate athletics. Institutions of higher education must move to higher ground, and Ohio State embraces its leadership responsibilities and affirms its long-standing commitment to excellence in education and integrity in all it does."

While it's not on the level of what we got, it's more than just a slap on the wrist for sure.

Auburn played a season, post season bowls and all, with a QB that was being ran for a summer on the Home Shopping Network. Nothing. But thumb your nose at 'em and they'll be hell to pay. Evidently, nose thumbing is waaay worse than buying players or lying through you're teeth to the NCAA.

Trevor Matich just said on ESPN that if he were USC, he would march to the NCAA offices in Indianapolis with torches and demand an explanation for the slap on the wrist that tOSU received when 5 players and a coach were involved as compared to 1 player at USC, and USC's penalties were much more severe than tOSU's.

 #+

Darn straight there is double standards when it comes down to the NCAA sanctions handed out to schools in the BIG 10 and those handed down to schools that are members of the "SEC".

The last 2 sets of penalties and sanctions the University of Alabama received for the Langham and Albert Mean’s incidents were severer and crushing compared to the (tosu) penalties they received.

tOSU were prime candidates and guilty of the infractions and deserved the sanctions for “Lack of Institutional Control" and "failure to monitor".

They should just shut up and thank "the good lord" they didn't receive more severe penalties that they justly deserved!!!

Finebaum asked Gary Danielson about tOSU ruling and he responded:
1. tOSU got off easy.
2. I bet Pat Hayen at USCw is mad.
