"Huge mistake" being corrected, Duron Carter "making progress" toward playing for Alabama, source close to juco transfer WR says.

Some of this sounds fishy to me. Either you have passed all the requirements or you haven't. Get the transcripts to the right people on time. This is just strange to me.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said Tuesday that Carter's junior college was out when the Crimson Tide began preseason practice. That has slowed the process of receiving the proper information to clear Carter to practice.
"To get grades posted and to get transcripts is the issue," Saban said. "That's what we're waiting for. We don't know that there are any issue. We have to get the information so he can be admitted so he can be at practice."
Saban said there's a lot of people working on resolving the issue, and that Carter is likely frustrated because he believed he completed his requirement early to be at Alabama.

"It didn't work out from an administrative standpoint," Saban said. " I know his family is working and our compliance people are working with him to try and get it done."

Easier said and done. I have had major issues with getting transcripts sent from one Community college to another. I feel his pain. And I also have issues with one class not getting listed on a transcript.

Expect to hear something before thursday at noon.

Not at all. This type of delay is common for students-remember, most students don't have to get on the practice field. Its difficult to match up classes at a community college with a school like UA if Carter took classes Bama doesn't offer. Also, given that it is early August, half of the administration at the CC is probably on vacation. I am at a 4 year school and I won't be going anywhere near my office for another week.

Then someone should have anticipated these problems and made advanced plans to circumvent them. This is not the first time we have had players transferring in.

Ah, but again, you have to remember this isn't a UA problem, its on the other side. And if Carter took summer school over there, its likely his transcript wasn't sent until the end of the session. You have two bureaucracies trying to talk together, thus doubling the chances for screwups.

Man how much longer can this drag on. We need to get him in practice to begin learning. This makes me nervie. I wonder how many legal department people are already on this? RTR!
