Cecil Hurt's article on Dee Hart's injury.

Quote
It's more difficult to measure what the impact will be on the 2011 Crimson Tide football team. Hart wasn't a starter. If there were such a thing as a depth chart, Hart would probably have been No. 3 coming out of spring training, behind undisputed No. 1 Trent Richardson and backup Eddie Lacy. That doesn't mean a No. 3 back isn't an important part of a Nick Saban team (see "Upchurch, Roy" for corroboration). Hart also promised to be a change of pace, a smaller, more elusive back than the other two. Jalston Fowler, now the nominal No. 3 back, doesn't promise the same change of pace. Blake Sims might fit the bill, but he spent the spring working as a Wildcat-formation quarterback, not a running back. Hart was also one of many candidates in the return game on both kickoffs and punts.

Yep, this hurts.  We need all of those speed guys, especially the ones on special teams.  Think back 2 years to the importance of a punt returner (hint: Javy).

I still wince anytime Mike Fraccia is mentioned.  He was a cog in the 1961 NC team and if he had not hurt his knee in '62 we would have been NCs again.

Hard to imagine DH coming back this season from something like this.  I hope he can get a medical redshirt so he doesn't loose a year of time.

I don't think he will qualify for a medical redshirt since he still has a redshirt option and 4 years eligiblity left.

It is a huge disappointment for Mr. Hart as well as the rest of the team and Bama Nation. Remember the impact HTWMI had in his Freshman year. One can only hope his surgury went well and his rehab goes good. His attitude is great and I am glad he is a Crimson Tider. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and many, many 100 yard games.

 Cool

Next year D Hart-Breaker will ram, ram, ramming on. Like HTWMI.RTR!

I just hope he doesn't lose any speed or quickness.  Probably better if he sits a year.

I think he will come back with a vengeance. This thing may pump Mr. Hart up so much he will be a Heisman Trophy candidate before he is done. This young man loves to play football especially with the Crimson Tide and he will surprise people with his greatness. RTR!

I had hoped big things for him this year, so I'm bummed.  I'm sorry for him, though; know he is suffering and worried.  Prayers.
