ISPORTSWEB writes this article about the Top 10 all time Bama QB's. I was expecting Gary Rudledge and Richard Todd to be on the list.

I too was shcoked Richard Todd was not on there but if you meant Gary Hollingsworth, I didn't think he would make it but I am not sure abour JPW or even Brodie? JMO. RTR!

JPW -- no way.  The records don't tell the whole story and he got them in a lot more games.

Brodie -- OK but as much for what could have been as for what was.

GMc -- Marginal.  Better than Bart Starr???  Not in my book.

Richard Todd -- Definately on the list.

Some others: Gary Rutledge, Terry Davis in the modern era, and guys I can't remember in the pre-Gilmer days.

When you make a list of this nature the first thing to do is outline your criteria. These things are subjective at best, but meaningless  without a set of guidelines. Collegiate career only or are we including his professional accomplishments (Bart Starr). Statistics, wins and losses, leadership qualities or awards and championships-- the list goes on.

For fun you can usually figure out how old the guy is making the list. This whippersnapper made it too easy.

I want to know where are Gary Hollingsworth, Mike Shula, Danny Woodsen, Freddie Kitchens, and Brian Burgdorf?  Angry Angry Angry

All kidding aside, I agree about Richard Todd being skipped over, and I glad to see Pat Trammel getting his due. I think Joe Willie is a no-brainer, but I think Brodie and JPW are WAY to high.

Also, where do y'all think Scott Hunter should rank?

I was in school for some of Scott Hunter's years as our starter.  He was a decent QB on weakish Bama teams.  Hard to judge him because of that.  But somehow, I don't think I'd put him in the top 10.

I remember the Scott Hunter years too. I think he was awsome but his Bama teams were so-so. I have always thought his top receiver Dennis Homan was the best wide receiver to ever play for the Tide.

Is anyone besides me old enough to remember the duel between Scott Hunter and Archie Manning of Ole Miss in 1969. Bama won 33-32. It was a shoot out. I was in Jackson, MS that weekend visiting my grandparents and everyone was wearing "Archie Who" badges. I am not positive but I think that was the first televised night game. I was a young lad but I remember it well.

Buttons were big back then. I remember the Manning for Heisman buttons the enemy wore. I was probably a Bobby Bowden/Jim Braxton (later blocked for O.J.) fan at that time. Embarrassed

So you were running buddies with Rutledge?

I was at that game.  It is among the greatest regular-season games ever played by Alabama.  Great atmosphere.  I had a date with a young lady from Mobile.  Ahh, the memories.

Jeff and I grew up together. He went to Banks HS and I went to Huffman. The schools were just a few miles from each other. We grew up playing playing YMCA football and Dixie Youth baseball together. He was a good guy. The best pass I ever saw in my life was when he threw a deep out route to a receiver in the Huffman - Banks game my senior year in high school. It was just out of reach of the DB finger tips and the receiver caught it for a TD. BTW I was the DB. It really pissed me off at the time. Once he won 2 national championships for Bama and played in the pros for 15 years I got over it. Not really I am still pissed.
