Title: New OC
Post by: McBaman on January 13, 2021, 07:11:23 PM
Looks like it's going to be Bill O'Brien.  Per al.com CNS pretty much confirmed that in a press call today.

Don't have much of an opinion on this guy.  As usual....in CNS we trust.

Was watching PF yesterday and there was a lot of push back on him from the callers. A couple of folks close to the Texas program basically indicated he was poison. Maybe dealing with kids instead of selfish, entitled idiots, will make for a better situation with him.  :dunno:

He seemed to take the Penn St job out of the goodness of his heart back in the day.  I know he only stayed 2 years, but that job was tainted at the time.

Regardless of who Bama hired, he was going to have an incredibly tough act to follow.   I hope he can develop QBs.

I expect CNS is getting a good recommendation from his old friend Bill Belichick.

That may be, but Saban has been in the business for a long time.  Long enough to be familiar with most of the coaches out there with any credibility.  At what point would Saban rely on his own instincts/knowledge in hiring assistant coaches instead of depending on "a good recommendation" from Belichick?

I never said Belichick's recommendation was the basis of the hire. No doubt in my mind CNS has done his own research. Part of that research is talking to people who have worked with him before. You do realize the last time O'Brien was an OC was on Belichick's staff?

In CNS I trust with his offense. I just wonder who a good offensive line coach is? RTR!
