Title: Aday discussion
Post by: Toxik76 on April 17, 2011, 08:09:13 AM
Hey guys GREAT Aday no one hurt. I wanna do this a little differently since y'all were able to watch it. So what I tell you won't be a surprise today LoL

DeQuan Menzie had another amazing scrimmage and Jarrick and Vinnie both had great games as well our secondary is SO much better at this point than where it was a year ago.

I think you guys all saw how good the pass rush and overall front 7 is gonna be both QBs were never comfortable in the pocket and got pressured all day and part of it was how great the secondary played to allow the front 7 to focus on pressure.

Our LB corps is absolutely ridiculously talented and deep both Hightower and Upshaw are beasts and we have so many more LBs that could START at a lot of other schools

Barrett Jones had a great day at LT really as good as can be expected for just learning the position TWO DAYS AGO AMAZING! He had a really tough assignment with Upshaw most of the time will it stick? We will see

All the recruits had a GREAT time including Lacey, Chris Black, Humphries, and of course our newest commitment Ryan Anderson he he

We have a workhorse on offense in Trent man WOW! He will have a special year

Alright do you guys have any questions for me or comments about what you saw?? Things you were impressed with? Or not? Let's have a discussion

There was a lot of discussion on this board yesterday about the QB's. In your opinion who is in the lead coming out of spring practice and why.

It's a lot tougher now to say Sims like I said through the 1st 2 scrimmages after yesterday with McCarron's performance yesterday he worked through progression a lot more but was still impatient at times in the pocket when it collapsed etc but I still liked the day Sims had yesterday, we really got some work to do with the WRs so that didn't help Sims by any means but I really hate to do this to y'all LoL but after McCarron looked better yesterday I'm gonna say a draw I still like.Sims to win and definitely don't rule out a dual QB system, I will also tell you this and I know you didn't ask but if there was any doubt Duron Carter was a massive signing it should've been answered yesterday and that's why he is coming, and he will start and be a superstar

What's your thoughts on the kicking game? Will it be a strength or weakness next year?

Definitely has to get better. Jay has a great leg but is inconsistent and its the same with Cade, I think that is definitely gonna be our biggest thing to work on

So, how much was the cross wind a factor in the passing/kicking/punting? As far as I could tell, Foster hooked one from 45, then over corrected (plus it didn't hook) and missed one right from 47. But with the passing, it is impossible on the ESPN3 replay to tell if it played into the long incompletions and INTs. Same with the short punting efforts. Anyone that was in the stadium can help out on this one. TIA

The main concern has got to be protecting the ball. The receivers are not protecting the ball after the catch. Glad this showed up in the spring with time to make corrections in fall camp.

Good point. Too many turnovers.

Well I couldn't watch it, but I want to thank you all for replying on the Board. It helped some. I hope I get to see the replay. My ISP was not on the list on ESPN3. I look for Tox's explanation as always, we have the best here to discuss this thing. It is only Spring. My main issue is the recruits, did it polish up their minds? RTR!

Hey Ricky, I recorded the game.  I haven't deleted it yet.  I could probably send you a copy if you want.  Do you have a DVD player?

I have plenty of discs Ricky.  I will send you one no charge.  I got your PM with the address.  I will try to burn it on to a disc and get it sent out to you in the next couple of days.
