Just got a quote from BC/BS.  It's about 175 a month.  Which is about 1/2 of what I was paying when I was paying 1/2 of my former company insurance.  The deductables are a little higher in a couple instances, but other than that I cant figure out the difference.

So, what's the catch?  Are employers really over paying that much just to provide the insurance?

Probably cheaper now that the "World Ends" deadline has come and gone.

I had a private policy with them too for a while when I was contracting.  They had 1 year waiting periods for a whole bunch of stuff.  Then they raised the premium after that first year.

yeah no surgury or hospitalization for pre-existing conditions for a year.  How much did it jump?

BC/BS will always be the cheapest since they are non-profit. You have to make sure, though, to carefully read the restrictions and fine print with any healthcare coverage.

You probably have excellent coverage up until the time you get sick.

It has been a couple of years, so I don't really remember.  It seems like it went from 250 to 400 for family coverage.  I do remember that it was enough of a difference that I immediately recognized what was going on with the waiting period.

Obamacare will be kicking in soon. We get the same treatment and wait times as Great Britain. Free drugs. Death consultations. Private rooms. Valet parking. ALL FREE. HTH

I don't know what FIFY is, but I thought each state was taking a judgement against Obamacare? RTR!

Move to Vermont if you want "free" socialized medicine.
