He says his sources tell him that the person who took Calloway out of state right before signing day was a person "very involved with the athletics department there... Just a big fan who's really involved, I guess you could say." He also says that "allegations are out there" that this mystery person gave cash to Winston. I was careful to capture the "allegations are out there" quote because Lee himself is not making the claim that Winston got money. He's pointing out that others are saying that, which is a classic CYA move. Lee also said that several people are looking into the matter and will make some kind of evidence public soon, but there's not likely going to be a paper trail due to the cash-only nature of the allegation. He even compared it directly to the accusations of Stanley McClover against Auburn on HBO's Real Sports program in that way. Many people say it has gotten worse than it used to be, but I think it has always been this bad but it was less known simply because of the lack of 24 hour news and the Internet. Unless someone could prove that the money/car/whatever was directly related to his football abilities and choice of university, no one can do schit to BC or Bama. A person not serving as representative of the university (as identified by the NCAA) can do what they want to with their own d--n money, so long as it meets the second requirement. Worst case, Bama would declare him ineligible and let the NCAA rule. Then I'd imagine BC would have the option to pay back the value of gifts received. In this case, I doubt he'd have to miss a game (like a certain fishing trip the Barners were all worked up about a couple of years ago). Yes, Lee owns the Auburn site that is a Rivals partner. I think that each Rivals site is independently owned and partners with Rivals. It seems that Rivals could end that partnership. That's one thing that is interesting about this. Why did he make his allegations on the radio when he could have published on his own site. We can't let other students in the class check papers or even see another student's grades because of FERPA. The local Solicitor General almost had to go to court to get student attendance records he needed in the prosecution of parents who weren't sending their kids to school, so how does this guy get access to those records.
