Title: Memorial Golf Tourney
Post by: Chechem on July 18, 2020, 08:44:01 AM
Bryson DeChambeau makes a 10 at the Memorial!  Worth watching.  Looks like something I'd do.   :lol2:

I'm not sure I've ever had a quintuple bogey.  ???

I can safely say I haven't in the past 10-15 years.   :lol2:

Can't remember more than that.

Looks like Rahm is in control.  He'll be hard to beat.

I was hoping either Finau or Palmer would win, since other favorites fell back (JT, Tiger, Phil, etc).  But Rahm looking good for a change.  He'll move to #1 with the win.

Yeah, I thought Finau would run away with it. Then all of a sudden, his golf game turned into my golf game.  :lol2:

:lol2: :lol2:  He was leading the tournament, then got a case of the stupids.  He was thinking, "I can hit this 3-wood 300 yards to a narrow green next to a creek."
His caddy was prolly saying, "ARE YOU A TOTAL IDIOT?  I NEED THIS MONEY FOR MY NEW TRUCK."
New truck gone!

Haha! Faldo was about to have a stroke over his club selection. To Tony's credit though, up to that point, he could have hit a garden rake and made the ball go where he wanted.

True.  What, he couldn't stand success??  "TONY, YOU'RE BEING A DeCHAMBEAU.  DON'T DO IT!"  But he did.  And now he's 4 strokes behind.

Like you, I hate none of our guys are in the mix. Rahm was in total control yesterday, as you mentioned. I don't see him keeping that up today. He's a streaky player and he's used up his streak. Maybe Tony or Palmer can get it back together.

Maybe.

But if I were betting, I'd put money on Rahm.  His backstroke and mechanics are weird, but at least they're simple.  Don't see him pulling a "DeChambeau" (getting a case of stupids).  Looks like he's in control.

BUT, I'll watch and hope for a fun finish.

Speaking of 'A case of the stupids', I may try to hit the golf course this afternoon. We'll see. My back is no worse from yesterday's round, so........

That's my boy, keep on screwing with that back until you really screw it up!  You're my hero.

Side note: I was my own hero until I screwed up mine!  Yep, we're trains on parallel tracks!   :lol2:

Me either. I pick up after 8 stokes and tell the scorer to put me down for a double.  :lol3:

Rory gets a snowman, the winds are howling, lightning is striking, and Rahm is cruising along unaffected.

10 more holes to go...

Well that had some unexpected twists and turns.  After the 9th hole Rahm started getting bogeys, the rains came, and Rahm got a 2-stroke penalty.  OMG.

But he still won.   #+

JT had an uneventful tournament but still finished T18. The course played more tougher than it did a week ago. There were very few players finish under par.

Yeah, a very interesting tournament. Finau was at -12 midway through Saturday's round. He went +10 the rest of the way.

I loved the expression on Rahm's face when Amanda Balionis told him about the infraction. With his temper, I wasn't sure if he would go off or not. To his credit, he held it together. He knew he'd won anyway.

Very much tougher!
The setup was crazy difficult; almost all holes yesterday cut behind traps and near the green margin.  The fairways slanted and were rock hard, the wind howled, the greens were fast, the par-3 holes had small greens, etc.
Last week the greens were slower and softer, the weather cooler, and the fairways more receptive.
Kudos to the setup for the 2 tournaments.  I had no idea the course would play so differently.

If I was a golfer I could probably hit 100 which is the high score so I should win. RTR!
