Probably not a fluke for several reasons. It was early in the season before injuries, etc. made depth a factor; GMAC played his typical SC game; Bama was overconfident; Garcia played a career game; Bama defense had not jelled. Probably some others. Not saying SC was the better team but they played much better than Bama that day.

Here's food for thought; CSS has never been known for running a tight ship. What if the SC football team was a bunch of party animals, but for one game, the Alabama game, no one partook of any party pleasures that week. If they had abstained all season, they might have won the SEC or even the NC.............just sayin'. You never know.....

I think most knowledgeable fans would agree the SC win over the Tide was a fluke. I give SC credit, they played an almost perfect game and Garcia played the greatest game of his career. Those are the conditions for a fluke, especially when you consider how SC played the rest of the year, getting blown out in 2 games and finishing 9-5. How did SC dominate Alabama is still a question nobody has been able to answer, but it was still a fluke. Not trying to be mean, but the facts are the facts. The Tide had a team that lost to two exceptional teams in LSU & Auburn (by a total of 4 points), no way is SC even in their class last year. Like I said, SC won in a dominating manner, but it was a fluke. Please explain to me why you don't think it was a fluke, considering the play of SC last year against everyone else.
No sense in letting ^ get buried on the bottom of page 2.

USCe was coming off a week of rest, while the Tide was coming off 5 straight games, with #10 Arkansas and #7 Florida being the last two (with them coming off bye weeks).

I totally forgot about the off week for SC. That and the career game for Garcia were a potent combination.

Everybody keeps talking about Garcia's "career" game, but I think the fact that the defense held y'all to 39 yards rushing and Bama was only 2 for 4 in the redzone had something to do with the outcome as well.

Are you kidding? Bama was giving up around 10-12 ppg and Garcia put up 35. Not only was that his best game ever but also the best game for ANY USCe QB since football was invented.

You make a good point but the bottom line is, without Garcia and his perfect career game, SC doesn't score 35 points and keep the ball away from the Tide offense. Like I said before, it was a dominating win for SC, but please explain how you lose to Kentucky the next week and finish 9-5 on the season, not to mention 2 very ugly blowouts. Again, the word fluke rears its ugly head. Sorry if you don't believe it or like it, but that's what it was.
