Excellent analysis.

So. Carolina at #8? No way. I'm not sold on Texas A&M, either.

Quote
Oregon's defense, which must replace most of its front seven, didn't seem to take a step back at all.

I think that's because other than LaMichael James, their offense is depleted.

With the barn being an exception last year, have these people some kind of mental block on the fact that defense wins championships? That being said, I'd take Georgia and Florida all day long over WVU. Geno Smith (WVU QB) a Heisman hopeful? That is one of the most stupid statements I have ever read. Again with the anti-SEC crap to appease the rest of the nation, that still believes the (fill in the blank) conference is just as good. Oklahoma looks good on paper, but in reality is just another pretty good team that wishes they could have the SEC's ability to prepare teams for bowls, without the "inconvenience" of actually having to play an SEC schedule.

Well first off, South Carolina and Oklahoma State are to high for my thinking. Nebraska is to low and I think will rise fast. I see Arkansas to low for sure and we should win the West, Arkansas and LSU should have a fight for 2nd in the West. Lordy nobody in their right mind should have TCU this low with all they bring back. They will be in the Big East and win it for sure and should the other teams get knocked off they might make the NCG. My only other prediction is on Notre Dame, I think they should be higher and if they bring  their big time WR back, they have a good chance to win out. JMHO! RTR!

Oregon #2. Stanford #5 Boise #10 MSU #14 WVU #20 all cannot play defense. All are teams that UF and UGA could play and beat, for a few obvious examples, but the SEC teams (that would've put the SEC with 8 teams in top 25) were left out.

A preseason poll should be derived from last years finish, +/- returning players. A snapshot of how good they are on day 1 of the 2011 season, all things being equal. But if you derive your Top 25 from how you imagine a team will fare throughout the season, then the teams with the weakest schedules/conferences are ranked ahead of teams that have a tougher row to hoe. In other words, picked from whether or not Boise can beat UGA if they played September 1. Not how Boise will coast through another lame schedule to end up #10, or how UGA will be battling to be .500 in the SEC. I say the Boise v. UGA game, as of today, is a toss up. Andy Staples' Top 25 would lead you to believe that #10 Boise will stomp unranked UGA. Feel me?

Excellent analysis.

It seems about right, to me...  Cool  I have a feeling we are going to be better than many think.  I wouldn't be surprised if we meet Bama in the SECCG. (And no.... I'm not drinking, yet)

With who at QB? What are they saying about Garcia playing in 2011?

He's on track to return.  I will say, that I am glad that it's his last year.  Conner Shaw is a very capable QB if anything happens to SG.

CSS has too much time and effort involved in SG to deep six him now. Although CSS knows the right thing to do would be to hold him up as an example (Garcia), last year has CSS salivating and it is too late in his career to worry about what others may say. I still say Garcia's resume looks pretty FCS without a career/miracle game against the Tide last year.

Another factor, perhaps a wild azz idea, may be that the UGA v Boise game may be as important to USCe as it is to UGA.

Just a hypothetical, but I would cringe to think that Bama could be one high ankle sprain (Lattimore) away from 6-6. Kiss

I think all this hinges on whether or not Garcia does or not.
