This may be one answer.

Jeremy Fowler‏@JFowlerCBS11m
WR Kenny Bell has notified Alabama staff he's quitting the team over what is believed to be a lack of playing time, according to a source

I thought I saw him on special teams playing hard the other day.  It seems like I saw him blocking downfield for CJ on the punt return.  He probably won't get much playing time at WR now with all the depth.

My guess is his teammates & coaches, maybe even parents, talked to him about his decision. He was probably down in the dumps due to playing time and made a rash decision. Just my speculation.

He wasn't at practice today, according to beat writers. CNS talks later this evening. I wish KB all the best. He is a team player and I hope he decides to come back.

No doubt he will see less playing time this year than in the past due to our depth. He has graduated and has a family. It is his decision. He has played well for us in the past and I will remember him fondly.

2012 (JUNIOR): Played 12 games and started three, totaling 17 receptions for 431 yards and three touchdowns ... 12 of his 17 receptions went for first downs ... nine of his 17 grabs (53 percent) were 15-yards or longer ... eight receptions of 29-plus yards (85, 57, 54, 44, 39, 34, 33 and 29) ... led the team with a 25.4 yards per catch average

2011 (SOPHOMORE): Kenny Bell earned an expanded role in the Alabama passing game as a sophomore ... the speedy wide out played in all 13 games and made four starts ... caught 17 passes this season for 255 yards, 10 first downs and two receiving touchdowns

2010 (FRESHMAN): Bell played in 10 games for the Crimson Tide in 2010 ... had two receptions for 26 yards

Good news: he's already graduated.

It makes sense for him to retire (I won't say he quit).  He is buried in the depth chart, probably no future in the NFL if he can't start at Alabama, already has his degree, and has a family to feed.  Quite noble of him if you ask me to give up his personal desire to earn another championship ring in order to support his family.

Apparently Coach Saban had a chat with Kenny and his Mom today.
He invited Kenny to stay on the team, and said he expects him back tomorrow.
Wording (paraphrased): "Kenny needed a personal day off, but should be back tomorrow."

note: I found the story and merged it.  But it popped up above here.  Oops (must be merged by time).

Yep.  Nobody dared cross him today.
I wouldn't want to be A&M next week.
