IMO this is a huge advantage for us.

I'll say it was worth it, there is no way that they would have gotten all of this experience from scimmaging at home. I'm impressed with the numbers from the players performances, I would think that CAG and staff might be a little giddy knowning now what they have to work with this season. Roll Tide!!

Absolutely! This has to be the experience of a lifetime for these guys. I think they will be well prepared for the season.

Anytime you get to play a different opponent, instead of intrasquad scrimmages, it is good.  You get to work different line ups and players get use to playing with each other.  These trips are also good for team bonding/chemistry.

Bama loses it first game on the Europe trip 100-70. 

Sorry for the lack of tweets tonight. Bad internet service all night. #Alabama loses its first game of the Euro Tour, 100-70, to Boulogne.

Trevor Releford led #Alabama with a game-high 25 points, while Rodney Cooper finished with 16. The Tide out rebounded Boulogne

Levi Randolph and Algie Key both had 6 points, while Jimmie Taylor finished with a team-best 8 rebounds.

Reading about Boulogne gives a picture of a solid, high-scoring team. They are 26-11 in the French B Pro League. They were 26-11 in the 2012/2013 season. They have 2 former U.S. college players at power forward & shooting guard. They usually score in the 80-100 point range. Looks like the French league is better than the Belgian league.

I had read that the competition was going to be strong on the Paris leg of this trip. I think a good whipping may be better for the team than 5 easy wins. CAG will not have any trouble showing them they have a lot to work on before the season starts.

Yeah, probably.  I was thinking maybe the Bama players might be relaxing a bit, and sampling that Belgian beer.

This link has the stats of today's game. We were 16 of 31 from the line for 52%. Our opponent shot 50% from the field. The good news is we out rebounded them 37-27. We had 20 turn overs.

We have a lot of work to do before the season starts. What has happened to our defense? I know we are playing international rules with a 24 sec shot clock and wider lane but we have given up a lot of points in all our games.

That was a pretty good spanking, but a spanking isn't so bad if you learn something from it.

  This was a back and forth game that could have gone either way. We lead 56-53. It was tied at 60-60. We were down 73-72 with 1:33 to play.

Good trip for the team. They fly home tomorrow.

Tough competition helps more than easy wins. CAG and the team have a lot of work to do before the season starts.

And that's the final score, with Rouen sneaking past #Alabama, 76-72. Stats to follow soon. The Tide finishes the trip with a 3-2 record.

Nick Jacobs and Rodney Cooper led #Alabama with 14 points each, while Trevor Releford added 12. Retin Obasohan finished with 11 points.

Another solid semi-pro French team. Three of their starters are Americans & the team record is 22-12. I think playing these teams was a major positive experience for the team.
