I'm sure they will come up with a way to screw this up.

If we play more in conference games and less out of conference games, wouldn't that weaken everybody's RPI in the SEC based on last year?

It depends on who you drop in non cnference play. We will play 2 more games against SEC East teams. We need to drop 2 cupcakes and it will help the RPI.

In the old ten team SEC we always played a 18 game schedule with a home and away game against each team.

I like the 16 game schedule. However, I think we need to seed the teams similar to baseball. All teams are seeded by their record regardless of division except the top two seeds are the East/West winners. Unlike baseball all 12 teams should be in the tourament.

I was actually being facetious. But really, if you think about it, if this format had been used last year, and Alabama had gone 14-4 instead of 12-4, they still wouldn't have made the dance.

I think the SEC top to bottom will be a stronger league next year. I expect CAG to improve the non-conference schedule. It is OK to play some smaller teams as long as they are strong in their league and have an RPI better than 200. We need to eliminate teams like Florida A&M (RPI 329) and Alabama A&M (RPI 308). These teams kill your RPI. We had several more over 200 and I'm not taking about the barn (but they were 229).

I know Kentucky and Bama had great recruiting this year, and I would guess Florida, how did everyone else fare? Vandy always puts a decent team on the floor, but I know the barn didn't burn it up, UT couldn't have had that great a year with the Pearl debacle. LSU is crashing & burning. Arkansas had a coaching change also. SC is terrible. Ole Miss & Miss St had mediocre years, but could improve if their recruiting was good. Whatya think, pmull?

I think the SEC had a good recruiting year. Kentucky is No. 1 again. Bama and Arkansas was top 10. Tenn, Florida, Vandy and Miss St were in the top 20.

Another thing that will help Alabama as well as the entire league is other than Kentucky we did not lose underclassmen to the NBA.

Even at the bottom barn, LSU and South Carolina will be better even if their record doesn't show it.

Exactly. I don't have a problem with us playing each SEC team twice, but the divisional champs should still get a "bye" in the SEC Tourney. Plus, we really need to drop a couple of cupcakes and add a couple of real teams. I don't mean we have to add Kansas and Duke, but how about solid teams like Kansas State, Texas, Baylor, Pitt, Maryland, etc. Solid teams but not world beaters. However, we do need to play at least one really good out-of-conference team a year.
