This snippet is simply a reminder that we (U of A) need to continue to rise above past transgressions and take to heart lessons from the past.

I totally agree but coming from Marsh is so hypocritical. This guy gave the univesity up to the NCAA.

I appreciate your zeal. But the university, boosters, recruits, and players may have been slightly complicit.

You misunderstand my point. Marsh made no defense of the university, he convinced the univeristy to roll on it's back and beg for mercy from the NCAA. You saw the "mercy" it got.

Maybe U of A infractions were not as "dead to rights" as some suggest. But we have been doing a balancing act with repeat offender status for a while. Also, Marsh did not enter these pleas on his own. U of A's "best and brightest" signed off on him pleading "we are sorry and won't do it again". Hopefully, those involved with the program have learned that it is best to not get in these situations in the first place.

WV, I agree with most of your points. We need to make sure we run a clean program and win "the right way". However, we hired Marsh as an expert in dealing with the NCAA. He threw us under the bus. I hope he does as good a job for sweatervest as he did for us.

Somebody needs to tell Sweatervest to ask Marsh how Bama turned out with his "help".

I think there is a huge question as to whether or not Marsh mislead the university as to the reaction of the infractions committee or simply misread their response himself. But I'll bet dollars to donuts he laid out two or three options as to which direction the university should take, and our people selected throwing itself at the mercy of the "court".

I think Marsh was very naive and he was wanting a job with the NCAA and they (NCAA) played him like fool and convinced him to have the university roll over and not fight. In other words, self-interest and naivete lead to a disaster for Alabama.

I hate being in the position of defending Marsh, because I am not sure he was not, at least, a big part of the problem/end result. But I promise an NCAA job would have been a major cut in pay.

He would have kept his university job as a law professor and worked part-time for the NCAA. That's the way I understand it.

My bad then. I thought he had a private practice.
