BIRMINGHAM — The bye week began with a double dose of bad news for the Alabama football team.

Before a speaking engagement in Birmingham on Monday morning, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban announced major injuries suffered by two important reserves.

Senior linebacker Alex Watkins broke his arm in the second quarter of Alabama’s 37-6 beating of Tennessee on Saturday while former star recruit and freshman offensive lineman Cyrus Kouandjio hurt his knee in the closing moments.
Quote
Saban said Kouandjio was the No. 3 tackle on the team, meaning junior Tyler Love becomes the backup for Barrett Jones. But other options remain for the second-ranked Tide entering the Nov. 5 visit from No. 1 LSU.

Alfred McCullough, one of three Alabama offensive players of the week, could enter the picture at left tackle, Saban said.

This week off could be a real factor if Bama is to win the BCSNCG, they need some healing time, mentally and physically.

True.  The bye week could not have come at a better time, regardless of the upcoming LSU game.  The team needed a rest and the injured needed healing.

Any word on Barrett Jones' injury?  Upshaw's?  I assume both will be well for the LSU game (oh please, please).  And lots of others are nicked up, it appeared.

Mosely is coming around from his injury but I think that, other than the two injured against Tenn, these two weeks should get some folks ready to play.

I hope both BJ and Steen are ready to go. I do not want to see Mcculloch or Love against Mingo. He will eat them alive.

A lot of things have to happen before Tyler Love sees the field in any significant manner. But he'll likely receive some extra attention from CJS, these next 2 weeks, and should take advantage of the situation.

Well I been fussing about Alfred not making blocks but it seems he did a great job this week, so I salute Alfred and apologize for being so critical but now you gotta keep it up. lol, RTR!

The coaches are working on each player with their basic skills this week, this will help when game time gets here. Good blocking and tackleing will win you games, so after a week of this I think the players will be sharp when they pull out their play book for LSU next week.

I know LSU has a good coaching record, and they pulled out some rabbits in last year's game, but I just can't take Les seriously.  He can't keep a train of thought long enough to complete a sentence.

This game, November 5, should be the real test of Coach Saban's coaching ability.  Surely, with Coach Saban and everyone's acknowledged top-rated coaching staff, Alabama can come up with a scheme to defeat LSU soundly.  LSU and Alabama are evenly matched.  I expect our coaches to come up with a strategy that not only exposes the weaknesses of LSU, but allows our superior athletes to dominate the LSU teams (offense, defense, special teams).  This game shouldn't be close.

After the last 3 or 4 years, I never thought I'd say this, but I am not sure CLM is completely 'tarded. But he shouldn't burn bridges with CNS in case he needs a reference some day.

See? I think he's playing the "special" angle to get a government "crazy check" if the football thing doesn't work out.

Even a full-bore, lock-step 'tard does not make the clock mgt. foul ups he made. He is faking it.

No, he's retarded.  The man eats grass.  I could respect him if he smoked it, but he eats it.
