If you think Tide fans are crazy, Texas fans would overwhelm Saban. Plus, I don't see him on the Longhorn network, having to deal with every Texas fat cat & politician, etc. It would drive him crazy.

This really reflects a certain desperation by Texas alumni, fat cats, and fans to talk about offering $10 mil a year & a $20 mil "signing" bonus. Saban is 62 (would be 63 during the next season) so he would be a stop gap measure at best. Texas needs to look for someone who is going to be around 10 or more years.

Honestly, I really don't know WHY Texas would go after CNS at this point. Had this happened seven years ago (when CNS was still in his 50s) I think he probably would have taken it. Now, I can't imagine UT going after a coach in his 60s, knowing they would probably have to go after another one in about 5-7 years. My guess is that UT would be more interested in finding someone who would have some longevity AND has had success.

Very simple, they want to win NOW and are desperate to win big. They aren't even thinking about 6 years down the road. They are so arrogant they think they can just buy another coach after Saban retires. Of course, that has not worked real well the last 15-25 years.

This rumor could actually have some legs folks.  Remember what he said when he was in Miami and was asked about taking the coaching job at Bama?
