Reading the Tweets from the recruits in the article, apparently Kirby leaving will have no effect on them. I hope that's true for all of them.

All this negativity!
Remember, the incoming coaching will bring us recruits too.
WAAAAAAAY too early to worry about what current recruits say, and besides (as you pointed out) most of them said they're going to play for Alabama (not Kirby).

 :P

Just spreadin' the cheer. As long as Saban is at the helm, I'm not worried. The only thing that even slightly concerns me is how big a distraction this might be for the team. I really hope it has the opposite effect and motivates them to send Kirby, Cochran, and any others out as winners.

Doubt they think like us.  I remember talking to a player in my class years ago after a coach at OM left.  He said to me, "I've got stuff stored at his house".

"Really??" I thought.  Your HC is leaving, and all you care about is your stash!!

Like the recruits were implying in their Tweets, Alabama is bigger than the coaches. I think that's the way most of them think.

True.  Now that we're concentrating on 5-star recruits, many of our targets won't announce until late January or early February.  We'll have new coaches in pacle by then, and Saban's in-home visits will be the deciding factors, not assistants.

It works both ways folks.

Quote
Malcolm Askew, a 4-star prospect from McCalla, Ala., almost committed to UGA this summer. He’s had UGA as his top school for quite some time.

That has changed. The McAdory High School standout tweeted on Wednesday morning that UGA was no longer his leader. That seemed to be a logical progression given the news of Kirby Smart‘s impending hire as head coach plus the reports coming out that current defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt was not likely to be retained by UGA.
