Bleeding over on other pages

I just made the left and right side bars narrower.  That should help quite a bit and get us by until I can come up with a new theme.

I switched back to my preferred size screen and the problem is solved.

Is there a way to show more threads on the first page?  Right now the side panels are way longer than the forum section on mine.  It's not a problem, but IMO we can easily have a longer first page..  Maybe it's in personal preferences and I am missing it?

Are you talking about the home page where the dude video is?  If so then that page will grow quite a bit once we get more content.  I will make sure it will show enough to keep up with the side bars.

If you are talking about the first page of a topic, then I can change that too.  Let me check out a multi page topic and see how it looks.

Yep, on this topic the first page is long enough.  The home page will get that way eventually.  The board index is probably too short though... I will have to think about that one.  Maybe when I add the campus map on there it will be longer.  The only other way to make it longer would be to add a ton of boards, which we obviously don't want to do.

I mean like the home page of the quad, how many threads it shows before they go to page two.  I think within the topics the setup is good.

Your right.  I just doubled it from 20 to 40.  And it still is not as long as the right side bar.  But... I will probably tweak that right side bar some more too.

The more you have on a page the more load it puts on the server.  But, that is not a problem right now for us.    We could put some more if we think it would be useful.  It would keep things from rolling off the first page as quickly.

It might be me, but now the left side is longer than the right.  LOL, it doesnt matter I keep most of them minimized just FYI.  Do you have stats where you can tell if the longer page is affecting the load speed?

I think we are fine on the load speed for now.  The bottom of every page shows how long it took the server to create the page.  This does not account for the time needed to send the page of the internet, which will vary from person to person.  But just based on the page creation time we are smoking right now.  I am looking at the time for this page and it is saying 0.182 seconds.  Compare that to some of the page times on the old server.  I remember seeing 10 to 15 seconds, and occasionally more, on a regular basis.

Eventually I might add a feature so that people can pick and choose which sidebar blocks they like to show, but that may take a little while.

I gotta say everything on my page is great now. I am just thrilled as I can be. If it gets any better I may sleep with my computer. lol, RTR!

The bleeding over issue should be resolved now with the new graphics.  You should not need compatibility view any more.  It should work on any screen size and will show a horizontal scroll bar if the screen is below 1024 x 768.

I am going to turn off the sticky on this topic now.  If you see any other problems please let me know.
