During the week of the Vandy game, Bray was asked ...by a member of the training staff if he completed a cursory workout exercise to which Bray shot back ‘No. Not really. And I’m not going to do it. Why should I? Besides we’re only going to a s#!%%y bowl game anyway.’ Sources tell me ...that  Derek Dooley ...shrugged it off and did nothing about it.

Bob Gilbert: Dooley, Vols hit rock bottom


 Derek Dooley - the would-be coach who was hired because his daddy is retired Georgia coach Vince Dooley - has presided over the lowest moment in modern Tennessee football history.

The 10-7 loss to Kentucky marks the first time in 100 years that a Vol football team has suffered back-to-back losing seasons. The 5-7 record leaves Tennessee ineligible for a bowl game.

"It was a bad ending to a bad season," Dooley admitted. "We had very poor execution."

And whose fault was that?

To be honest I ddin't think any of CNS's disciples would have had years like this. Dooley, Muschamp and Fisher are all having some problems. Dooley, by far the worst.

One thing for sure CDD didn't inherit the best program in the country. Kids like Bray with his attitude will never help build Tenn. back up. RTR!

His buyout is over 5 million!  His salary is 2.2 mil

They will have to work thru all those problems AD Mike Hamilton started.

Bruce Pearl damaged the BB program as well. Coach Pat Summit's illness.

They have a great new AD in Hart.

I wanted to like him but...

He has a whiner mentality.  He's had major injuries to key players but quit whining.  Maybe him and Mack Brown can have a girl's weekend and talk out their feelings.  He inherited a dumpster fire...but he voluntarily signed on to said dumpster fire for a lotta money.  His corfing makes him look bad.  He needs some media training.  Also, celebrating like you just won the superbowl after a near-loss to Vandy really makes you look bad.

The fallout from Tennessee's second consecutive losing season and season-ending 10-7 loss to Kentucky

Vols, who last had back-to-back losing seasons in 1910 and 1911.

Tennessee was one of the worst running football teams in the country this season, finishing 117th nationally.

Tennessee coach Derek Dooley could also have a hard time holding onto defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox,

I don't think they fire him this year, but next year he better win at the very least 7 games, maybe 8, or he will be gone. I really don't think he was hired for the long haul anyway, more like a 3 year interim coach.

0 Games under coach Derek Dooley in which Tennessee needed to play the second half. In 25 games under Dooley, Tennessee has won all 11 games in which it led at halftime and lost all 14 in which it didn't.

1 Time that Tennessee has lost seven conference games in one season -- this year, when the Vols went 1-7 in SEC play. The only other season in which Tennessee had lost six league games was 1962, when the Vols went 2-6.

100 Years between consecutive losing seasons for Tennessee. The Volunteers finished 5-7 in 2011 after going 6-7 last year, giving them their first back-to-back losing records since 1910 and 1911, when Tennessee was 3-5-1 and 3-4-2, respectively.
