Alabama lost Game Two last night 7-5 and lost Game One on Thursday 2-1. They had their chance to win both games but came up short. Alabama needs to avoid the sweep when in Game Three this afternoon at 3:30. The game will be shown on the SEC Network.

Alabama is in danger of missing the SEC Tournament. A win today and we are in. If we lose we need either Georgia or Tennessee to lose.

Our NCAA bid hopes are almost gone. I thought if we won the Vandy series and win a game in the SEC Tournament we would make it but we have already lost the Vandy series. If we win today it will take a deep run in the tournament. If we lose today we must win the tournament. These are my opinions and not facts of course.

I sure will be glad to get our new ball park open for next year. Playing every game on the road has been more difficult than expected. I am not making excuses that is a fact. The team has to travel to even practice. In SEC play we are 8-7 on the road and only 3-11 in Hoover. That is hardly a home field advantage.

Bama wins Game Three 1-0 to avoid the sweep.

We end the regular season 30-26 and 12-18.

We open SEC play on Tuesday in Hoover. CMG only used our pitching staff ace  Geoffrey Bramblett for one inning today to save him to start on Tuesday.

IMO we need at least 3 wins in the SEC Tourney to have a chance to get a NCAA bid.

This is a good question. My question is do we have the talent and experience to win this year? Also, who would be interested in coming here to coach Baseball? You guys no more about this than I do but I really think it should depend on how well we show in the playoffs. RTR!

Maybe, just maybe if he wins the SEC Tourney, but it might not be enough. This is his 6th year & even he admitted the team underperformed. Personally, I have not been impressed & this program can do much better.

I think we are ready for a change. The new ball park along with a new coach would bring excitement back to the program.

This situation is very similar to CAG and the basketball program. CMG is a good guy. He has had some success. He has made 4 postseason NCAA appearances in 5 years. He made it to a super regional in 2010 and was 1 win from the World Series. Last year we were 1 win away from a super regional losing in the Tallahassee regional final. We will miss the tournament this year barring a deep run in the SEC Tournament. (I think we need 3 wins minimum.) He has never had a losing season.

Bill Battle does not sound like he is ready to make a change. His comment below from this week's Battle Plan seems to be in support of CMG.

In CMG defense it has been a very difficult year. Playing every game on the road has not been easy. We even had to travel to practice. Some people have said that he deserves at least one year in the new facility.

Quote
Last weekend at Auburn, our young men swept the nation's No. 23-ranked team with a pair of dramatic victories in the first two games followed by a 14-4 blowout in the series finale. That series sweep revealed an impressive fortitude and spirit by our team, which has had to overcome a lot of adversity this season. While playing at The Hoover Met has been a first-rate experience for our team, coaches and staff, it is still a difficult and unusual reality to deal with over the course of a season. It is like playing all our home games on the road. Having gone through a tough non-conference schedule (in which our team has gone 17-8 this season), along with the always difficult SEC schedule, I must say that I am extremely proud and impressed by this team's perseverance.

Coach Gaspard and his staff deserve a lot of credit for getting this team to where it is now, playing its best ball of the season at crunch time after a lot of struggles. It's beginning to look as if the tough schedule and close games have prepared us to finish strong this season .That is certainly the plan for playing tough non-conference competition We are excited to see if we can continue to play at the high level that we were able to achieve last weekend against a hot Auburn team in hostile territory.

Personally, the way Bill Battle handled the Anthony Grant fiasco gives me no confidence in his judgement. He just doesn't seem to get it.

With the idea being fed here as to another coach next year, who would be a candidate for our Baseball coach? I would think if you have firing in mind you got to have a list of who will replace or do you just take a Vegas gamble as we did in Basketball that we will find that exciting coach? RTR!

Good question. Like BB, we could look at a successful coach at a smaller program (NAIA), go for an assistant like Scott Brown the pitching coach for Vandy, successful coach at a Division 1 school, or even a minor league coach. With a new stadium, we could probably get a good coach at another Division 1 school who is looking for an upgrade in facilities.
