TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Vanderbilt (3-1) is Alabama's next opponent, and though Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban isn't going to let his second-ranked team take the homecoming opponent lightly, fans can be forgiven if they do.

Alabama (5-0) is 43-2 against Vanderbilt since 1960. That includes 20 consecutive victories since a 30-21 loss in 1984, and 14 more consecutive victories before that loss.

But there was a time when the Commodores were competitive with the Crimson Tide. Before 1960, Vanderbilt had a 17-15-4 edge in the series that dates to 1903.

Alabama now leads the nation in scoring defense (8.4 points per game) and rushing defense (39.6 yards per game). It ranks fifth in pass defense (152), third in total defense (191.6) and second in passing efficiency defense (83.34).

The Tide is ranked No. 18 in scoring offense (38.4 ppg), No. 13 in rushing offense [229.8], No. 80 in passing offense (208.2) and No. 38 in total offense (438).

Alabama also is ranked No. 3 in the nation in kickoff returns with an average of 30 yards.

And TR is 4th in rushing.  Time to build on those statistics.  But we also need to play some of the young 'uns.  They'd better take their roles seriously; we need to hold onto these stats - FOR PRIDE.  And we need to keep everyone healthy, so let's get a lead early and play everyone.

If you were a young recruit... how do you not want to be a part of that?

I agree we need to get younger kids as much playing time as possible over the next 3 weeks. Tennessee has a good QB and passing game, but they lost their best receiver. Tide's needs to stay healthy with 9 more ball games left to play.
