Post by: pmull on March 19, 2011, 09:09:27 AM
Click here for article (http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/03/its_no_1_florida_vs_no_2_alaba.html)

The SEC Gymnastic Championship starts this afternoon. Florida is ranked No. 1 in the nation but Bama is capable of giving them a run for the title.

Good luck ladies.

Ricky, the only loss our Gymnastics team has this year was to Florida.

It's starting soon, I'll try to keep the thread updated with the scores.

You can listen live here    link (http://www.serverroom.us/radio/267097)

The live scoring feed from the SEC digital network isn't working, so the scores are going to be hard to keep up with.

In the first rotation:

Alabama   49.15
Kentucky  48.725
Georgia    48.9
LSU         47.925

Arkansas, Auburn, and Florida were all on byes.

I just edit the OP to show "Click here for article" instead of the url.  The actual url was so long that it was messing up the formatting on the front page.

Second Rotation

Alabama  49.225
Florida  49.25
Arkansas
Auburn

Georgia, LSU, Kentucky were on a bye

Alabama has a 2 rotation total  98.375   We will be on a bye in the next rotation.

I'm beginning to think there's a jinx.  The online scoring remains messed up and now the radio feed is offline.

MBD - Where are you getting the online scoring. I would like to follow it too?

The link for the online scoring is  here (http://216.253.119.45/), but it's not working right now.  It hasn't worked since the middle of the first rotation.

I was listening to the radio broadcast on WVUA.  It ended abruptly in the middle of a commercial and isn't on now either.

AAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

online feed for radio is down again

I'm relying solely on twitter updates from Tuscaloosa news

Alabama has had 4 scores so far on floor  9.875, 9.9, 9.875 and 9.925

These are great scores!

Alabama scores 49.35 on floor.  Through 3 rotations the total is 147.725.

Florida and Georgia were both on byes this rotation.

Next rotation, Florida is on the floor, Georgia is on bars and Alabama has their 2nd bye.

Here's what the scoreboard shows....

3 rotations complete
Alabama 147.725
Kentucky 145.275

2 rotations complete
Florida 98.175
Georgia 98.15
Auburn 97.525
LSU     96.975
Arkansas 98.3

It is really hard to tell who's winning when they don't all have the same number of rotations.  But Alabama is ahead of Florida by 49.55, and Florida's average score so far is 49.0875 per rotation... so I think we are winning right now!

ROLL TIDE!

Yes, it's hard.  I'm thinking we need to watch Arkansas, too.

After two completed Alabama has 98.375 and Arkansas was second with 98.3

I think we can pull this out if we don't make mistakes, but it's gonna be very close for 1st through 4th place if this keeps up.

Title: Re: SEC Gymnastic Championship Today
Post by: SUPERCOACH on March 19, 2011, 06:04:09 PM
Good point.  I did not notice that.  We lead them by 49.425 right now, and their average score is 49.15.  We are still ahead of them but they are a little closer than Florida.

I guess the key questions are:

1.  Which rotation do we have left?
2.  Are we normally strong on that rotation?

Title: Re: SEC Gymnastic Championship Today
Post by: MDB Tide Roll on March 19, 2011, 06:05:53 PM
Okay, the 5th rotation is done.

With three events completed

Alabama   147.725
Florida      147.575
Georgia     147.4
LSU          146.325

Auburn and Kentucky are in 5th and 6th.

Arkansas has 2 completed  98.3.  They will be up on bars and then beam for the final rotation.

I agree it will be very close.   We finish this time with Vault which is our best event.  If our gymnasts ALL hit on vault we should be fine.

We're up on vault now.

Nationally, we're #1 on vault and Florida is #2.  Arkansas has bars and beam left - they're ranked 13th and 20th nationally.
Georgia has Beam left - they're ranked 4th nationally.

9.875 for the last vault, which improves our score.

Kayla Hoffman has a 9.95!

Diandra Milliner has completed her vault and we're done.

Diandra scores 9.875.

Alabama's vault score will be 49.5 according to my Math.

197.225 final score for Bama.  I think we are in position to when.  But we have to wait and see what Florida does.

Now, we wait.

Alabama finished with 197.225.

Florida will be tough on vault, hope they get some nerves going.

Florida needs a 49.65 to tie us.  That's a 9.93 average from 5 gymnasts.

That makes me feel better.  We have the highest score on vault this year and it was a 49.525.  Florida's highest vault score this year has been 49.475.

Roll Tide!!

According to my math, Florida would have to score more than 49.65 on the vault to beat us.  That's nearly impossible, isn't it?

Radio broadcast focused on Georgia's last gymnasts.

As soon as I can find any kind of scores for either, I'll post.

Reporting on radio that Arkansas and Georgia are basically out of contention.

Arkansas website reports they have a 146.975 through 3 events.  Impossible for them to catch us.

Still looking for UGA stuff.
