Hanks and Maze. Maze and Hanks.

The names of the top two returning receivers at Alabama have almost molded into one when the discussing the future of the position. That outlook includes more than just Darius Hanks and Marquis Maze.

First heard in low whispers, the name DeAndrew White is now emerging as the young gun in the group. Coach Nick Saban said that’s no coincidence.

“It’s a real good indicator when his name keeps coming up that he’s progressing good, very well,” Saban said. “He’s done a good job out there, he’s working hard. He’s got really good speed and he’s explosive.”

“He’s one of the most difficult guys that we have to cover,” Saban said. “He’s done a pretty good job of being consistent catching the football. It’ll be interesting to see how he responds in the scrimmage on Saturday.”

Has anyone noticed how CNS is singing more praise about players this year than last year?
I take that as a good sign.

I think much of that is simply that last year the D weaknesses, and DBs in particular, were his primary concern.  This year he has much to keep him busy, but not so much of a worry.

Yeah, you actually just made my point. Last year, he wasn't so much singing the praises because of what you just pointed out. He's not talking so much about areas that need improvement this year as he is complimenting the players for their talent and efforts.

I am thrilled to hear these young guys are coming on board and taking care of business. I wonder if White will start in the place of Hanks? What I mean is in the openers where Hanks can't play, if he does that would bold well for him. RTR!

We have recruited so well I am not surprised that a young guy might step up and take a position away from someone. All signs are indicating White is a player.
