It looks like 2 was very lucky the big tree in front of his house didn't fall on the house per the  picture that you posted of the front of his house.

True, Jamos.  Here's his house before the tornado:

He'll need to explain the other photos.

As populated as the area is, it's amazing the low number of serious injuries and no deaths.

Thanks Chech for posting these. We are still without internet so I sent these to Chech to post. I am still posting from my phone. All these pics were taken on my street or within 2 blocks from me. To really see what's going on, it's best to enlarge these. All these pics are of destroyed houses and overturned cars. Still can't get in close enough to get a pic of the Moorings apts. you guys in Tuscaloosa already know how bad these things are. Even worse than this. But this is very unusual for this area. They are calling this an F2. You rarely ever see more than an F1 around here.

J, you are so right. Even with everything we've endured this month, we consider ourselves very lucky.

You all were very blessed that this thing didn't get on the ground and stay there for about 5-10 minutes. After seeing damages from storms like this, it's always scary to think of the what ifs.

True.  If you read back on the Daily Thread, once I realized that 2's neighborhood was hit I thought the tornado was on the ground from Orange Beach to Escambia Bay.  That's what the tornado track showed.  It could have been REALLY a lot of damage ALL THROUGH Pensacola.

You may not want TV back on.  Today there were 50 (fifty) more tornadoes in the eastern United States.  LOTS of heartache.

 :(

Seeing those images makes me even more thankful that you and the family made it through safe.  Very sad about the others though...My grandmother lived on Gulf Breeze when I was a young child but moved out to Robertsdale when I was probably 9 or 10 y/o...I can't help but wonder if her old house survived as well as the elementary school that was just up the road from her old house...

I'm not sure.  I was just looking at google/maps trying to figure out the location where she lived but couldn't.  I thought there was an elementary school just up the road but I only saw one and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the same one she lived close too.  Maybe it was just a park with playground equipment?   :dunno:

Sounds like Oriole Beach Elementary. That area south of there got hit very hard by Ivan.

But this is very unusual for this area. They are calling this an F2. You rarely ever see more than an F1 around here.

I think they now have it as an F3 with highest estimated wind of 155.  Yes, it's VERY unusual down here to have an F3, much less two a week apart.

Saw an interview of a lady yesterday from her hospital bed, said she rode it out holding onto a power box, flying around.  They went back out, found the box, showed her a pic and she identified it as the one.  Somehow, I cannot find any humor in that.    :-X

Bill, there had to be a lot of "hangers on" after seeing the damage. It's an absolute miracle nobody was killed. I heard on the news last night that a sign in a neighbor's yard was found 50 miles away.

That woman was in the Convent, Louisiana tornado.  She looked 75, but said she was 48!   ???
