The two or three times I've had the opportunity to converse with Coach Moore, have been Alumni Association functions. All in NYC. The first was a Christmas party in the Empire State Building (penthouse party room). While I wanted to drill him with questions about the team and old stories about Coach Bryant, he seemed to be able to move the conversation back to me and my transition to New York City.

He has a way that makes you feel he is genuinely interested in you. I remember rapidly being put at ease and I really enjoyed our brief conversations. I think he enjoyed himself, as well. The second or third time, was a roast for Mel Allen, the New York Yankees announcer and Bama Alum, in the Downtown Athletic Club.

I figured you'd have a better quip than that.  Maybe Mal is showing Coach Bryant a mirror.

I like CMM. I do not think he gets as much credit as he deserves for the upgrade of all our facilities and the upgrade of nearly all of our athlectic programs in the last 10 years. I think he has done a good job as AD.

On top of the best HIRE of the last 50 years or 20 years (hate to leave CGS completely out of the loop).

All of our major men's and women's sports are in very good shape. Overall, our athlectic programs are as strong as I can remember.

Many thanks for the link which changes my opinion of MM. This shows his human side. I wanted him removed (as did the Tuscaloosa News) during the bad times, but he's one of our best.

Wow, I didn't know Mel Allen was an Alabama alum. Thanks for that shot of learning. RTR!
