Alabama scored 17 of its 27 offensive points after the break, and according to Saban, the improved output was the direct result of the Crimson Tide's grand scheme. By attacking the perimeter, the area between the tackles eventually became decongested as Ole Miss focused on sealing off the areas outside the hashmarks...

I just thought we didn't have anyone that could run a mid range route was why they either went for the deep ball or sat at the line of scrimmage. Hope this plan doesn't get them so far behind that they can't recover later on down the road.

Other than Florida in 2014, how many times have we seen Bama go for the home run play in the 1st quarter under Kiffin? Even as Sims and Coker improved, we haven't seen a lot of first quarter points, or even second. Then in the second half things explode, or in the Tennessee game last year when the score was close at the end, after running the sweep all day Kiffin faked it and gave the ball to Henry who ran in for the winning score.  He plays it safe early and when he sees what the defense is doing he exploits it.

Normally the defense can be counted on not to give up more than 10 points. Saturday was a combination of Bama missing some early opportunities on offense, Ole Miss making some big plays on well thrown and hard to catch balls, and incompetent officiating on the targeting non-call and block in the back before the player crossed the goal line.

After watching again I thought Bama had good success running right at OM earlier than people thought.  OM ran to the ball well and seem to have a harder time with the runs right at them.

Forcing the opposing D to defend the whole field, from sideline to sideline, is always a good strategy.  I would guess that even well conditioned D's will feel the effect to some degree in the 4th qtr.

But...you still gotta make 1st downs and move the ball.

After watching again I thought Bama had good success running right at OM earlier than people thought.  OM ran to the ball well and seem to have a harder time with the runs right at them.

That's what I thought & is why I was so frustrated with the continuous use of the jet sweep. It's a good play, but not repeatedly.

You are also getting your hands in some of your best playmakers.  Honestly some of them would have been a lot better if the receivers had done a better job blocking.  For instance when AS got hurt the TE got blown up and helped kill the play.  Also #11 missed a couple of blocks.

His running into him was caused by the OM player blowing him up.



I think it was the TE #84 that ran into Stewart and hurt him.
