After a day like Saturday, the SEC had its pick of Alabama performances to honor.

Ultimately, the league chose receiver Amari Cooper for its offensive player of the week over quarterback Blake Sims. The junior shared the honor with Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott.

It was the first time in Cooper's three seasons he won the award. He's the second Alabama player honored by the SEC this season after kicker Adam Griffith won special teams player of the week after making three field goals against West Virginia. ...

Congrats to Amari AND Blake Sims!   :worship: :worship:

You know if Blake keeps having this kind of performances all year he would have to be high in the heisman race along with amari. RTR!

What a story that would be!  :popcorn2:

The Heisman has become basically a stats race in recent years.  Well, that and a popularity contest.  If it were to come down to a race between Sims and Cooper then I'd have to say give it to Sims because he will undoubtedly throw to several other players throughout the rest of the season as well as run the ball himself a bit too...

I wonder if Cooper can play qb?  ???

Right now Cooper is the popular pick.  That's probably too early for what has become the flavor of the week competition.  Ingram didn't get much love until the South Carolina game.

As much as I like Sims, Bama doesn't need him to get any Heisman interest right now.  The southeastern vote is already going to be diluted with Gurley at Georgia.  Now if Sims becomes the popular vote at the end of the season, that would be very cool.

Had a discussion during the game Sat. with several long time Bama fans comparing Cooper to Julio.  We came to the consensus that Cooper is probably better now than Julio was while he was at Bama, but he is not as good as Julio is now. Julio has become dominant as a professional.

What do you think?

I would think that is true. Having said that, with the work ethic that Coop has, he will be as good as Julio when he goes pro.

Julio is taller; that helps Julio's ceiling as a professional.  I've never seen the speed comparisons, but it seems that Cooper is faster.

I think Coop will end up being the 2nd coming of Jerry Rice. He will have some records in the NFL. This is why I hope he doesn't go Pro but I am afraid my is going down. lol, RTR!

:(, I am 100% sure your right. But I would love to see him stay but hopefully we can get someone to take his place next year. It seems sometimes that each year one leaves another great player steps up and fills his space. I am going to wait and see who this could be if anyone. RTR!
