Title: Coaches attire...
Post by: MLB10 on March 05, 2011, 11:55:34 AM
Do you remember when football coaches dressed like they were going to church?  We'd never have the houndstooth thing had it not been for Bear wearing a hat.  Now they dress like they are playing golf.  Basketball coaches still dress up.  How come football coaches quit trying?  Do you like it, hate it, or just not care?  I kind of miss it but I don't think Saban's ugly suits would ever catch on like the Bear's hat did ;D

Coach Bryant wore some pretty pimp errr... ugly suits.

I think a lot of it is the Nike contract.  Joe Pa still wears a suit.

I liked it better when coaches looked like individuals.  Now....they all look alike.

It used to bother me that the coaches started getting away from shirts and ties, but I guess there are changes in every generation. Its not so much a big deal anymore. It seems that the golf shirts the CNS and others wear now are probably much more comfortable, especially in early September in Alabama when temperatures can still reach into the mid 90s on gameday. I don't know how Bear, Joe Pa, and others that wore suits could stand it.

Well I liked it when the bear dressed. I just feel that today coaches say my job is to win games not dress a certain way. If I was thinking about it, I liked the old days but they are gone it's a new generation and the next generation will do it their way too. Everybody has to feel different I guess i.e. kids with britches down around their knees. Don't work at my house but it does in most. RTR!

All the slammin he does, he would splatter something on that new suit and Mrs. Terrie would spank him so bad he would be squallin. He knows not to get them grass stains on that suit. RTR!

Our coachs and players wear coats and ties into the statium and change before the game.

Remember how Miami dressed in New Orleans when we beat the crap out of them in 92. They were cocky and had no class.

I agree with the previous poster, I think alot of it has to do with the NIKE contract.
