Title: Is Coach Jeremy Pruitt Losing His Team?
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 23, 2018, 08:55:13 PM
I would like some folks perspective on Pruitt from my fellow posters and I hope hs coach has time to respond. It seems to me he goes overboard in criticizing his team and players. This seems to happen over & over and I think the team may tune him out and give up. Does anyone else see this or something else? Thanks.

I haven't seen enough to have any reason to believe he is.  I thought his team played hard to the end the other day.  This doesn't seem like what a team would do where the coach was losing them.  Are players leaving the team?  It also seemed to me even the announcers had different views on what Pruitt said to his team at half time.

There was a report that as Pruitt was criticizing the team play, Fulmer had a scowl on his face supposedly directed at the team. Their hard play and win against Auburn would seem to belie that, too. Maybe the media is overreacting, which we know they would never do.   :eyeroll:

Speaking of Fulmer, doesn't he seem to be seen too much around the team? I can't believe Pruitt would like to see less of him.

When he stated, I believe in the halftime interview, that he is going to need a couple more recruiting classes to compete at Bama's level I feel he was not criticizing his current team but just being honest.  No idea if he is losing his team or not...

I think Pruitt being a CNS disciple has the he don't care what others think or who is around. He can make them disappear at anytime time, I think he is a man taking a broken broom and trying to weld the pieces back together for a stronger broom. Does he have the time is my question. RTR!

My 2nd thought is Fulmer will let him recruit a couple more years and when he gets the team right the way he wants then Fulmer will fire him and take back over the good team that has been built. RTR!

I don't see that happening.  No way the BOT in Knoxville would let Phat Phil take over the team especially if CJP has them running like a clock...

OK you may have something there but I just don't trust Fulmer with anything. RTR!

This. I thought it was very odd the way Nessler and Daniels interpreted the comments the sideline reporter said about whatever Pruitt told his team.

I know the sideline reporter said explain it back to them afterwards and she explained exactly what he said not what was in their minds. RTR!

Pruitt is a first time HC and is figuring out "how to say" what he means.  At the end of the season he will look back and realize he could have/should have chosen different words to get his point across.  He may be trying to run off some guys and spring ball in K'ville may be quite brutal.  So maybe he's setting a tone for that.

UTen is still playing hard and did score 21 points on Bama.

As for recruiting, good luck to CJP recruiting against CNS, Kirby and Jimbo.  Ain't gonna be easy.
