Tiger Wins at Congressional

Surpasses Jack on the all time tournament wins list at 74. He is 8 behind Sam Snead.

Here's one that will never be broken. In 1945 Byron Nelson won 18 of the 35 PGA tour events. Are you kidding me?!? Better than 1 of every 2 tournaments? Ridiculous!

That was a fun tournament at Congressional this weekend.  Glad to see Tiger playing well again.

Tiger is starting to look like the Tiger of a few years ago. That was his 3rd win of the year which is the most of anyone on the tour. He has that 3 wood stinger shot back. He seems to be able to hit the narrow fairways with that club without giving up a lot of distance.

Congreeional and the PGA did a good job of getting the course back in shape after the Friday night storm. That course had a lot of damage. CBS coverage did not miss a beat. You would have thought with the power outage their coverage would have suffered but it did not as far as I could tell.

The only gap in coverage was the half hour between Golf Channel coverage and CBS coverage.  Guess it takes them 30 minutes to exchange fat butts in each chair. 
Unfortunately, yesterday that gap came while Tiger was making a birdie.

The British Open starts July 15. I am very interested to see how Tiger does on a course where driving the ball is not at a premium. He still suffers from an erratic driver, but can scramble as good, if not better than anyone right now. He is not a good bad weather golfer, however, so that may factor in. If conditions are good, I think he may get major #15.

Tiger talked about preparation for the Open last night during his press conference.  Due to scheduling he has only a week to prepare.  He talked about working on keep the ball down in the wind and getting the ball higher on some shots.  The more he talked, the more I thought, "Not this year".  He will be among the favorites, but it seems like a reach for him to win.

Q: You won before the Masters, and you won before the U.S. Open. It didn't quite work out at those two events. But with the British coming up in the next couple weeks, I know you have an event before that, but do you feel your game has come around and you can get that next major especially getting a win at such a tough course?

TIGER WOODS: Well, it's going to be totally different shot making and prep. I'm going to play next week, and then I'm going to have to start practicing some different shots and getting used to hitting the ball a little bit lower, a little bit more flighted. It's a totally different game playing links golf. But I still have to have the ability to get the ball up in the air. That's something that we're going to work on. I've got a week -- basically two weeks, but one week of prep prior to the Open, and we'll get after it.

Yeah, it's always been about his putting. When he's on, there is no one better.

I am not real sure but this guy has always appealed to me like another Obama. It seemed he was more interested in his super stardom than his trophy wife and kids. I like seeing a lot of people winning in golf but he just never impressed me. Sorry. RTR!
