Title: Alabama vs Winthrop in Basketball Tonight-Wednesday in T-Town
Post by: Marshal Dillon on December 16, 2015, 03:47:29 PM
Game on SEC NETWORK @ 8 pm. Team from Big South Conference in Winthrop, that's 6-2 with a good coach. Lost to NC State & Georgia this year. They have 3 scorers who average 18.9, 17.5, & 13.5 points a game. Plus, they have 3 big men who can rebound, one is 6'10", two others who are 6'8". We should win without a problem.

Possible interesting match-up between 5'10" Coleman & 5'7" Keon Johnson who is their leading scorer at 18.9 point a game. Don't know if we would have Coleman on him, but it would be quickness on quickness.

7-5 Tide very early. Jimmy Taylor looks very involved in game. Edwards playing good, too.

Both teams sloppy & disjointed right now. 9-9 with over 11 minutes left.

Obasohan in foul trouble & on bench. Brandon Austin, true freshman for Tide in game. Neither team can throw it in the ocean. 15-15 Winthrop. We need to pound it inside, we have a solid size advantage.

Tide being carried by Taylor 8 pts/3 reb, Edwards 7/3, Austin 7/3, & Norris 0 points but 5 rebounds & good D & energy. None have more than 1 foul. Is something wrong with Shannon Hale? Don't remember seeing him on floor.

Jimmy Taylor is eating their lunch. He is overpowering Winthrop. Plus, Obasohan is warming up. 46-31 Tide. Obasohan with 2 more FG's, 48-31.

53-33 Tide. Tide size depth, & quality showing itself now. Still only 3 scorers for Winthrop. Amazing. 60-37 Tide. Coleman has hit 2-3 pointers now. Tide 25/45 FG, 55%.

Coleman must have scored all 18 of his points in the 2nd half. I don't think he hit anything in the first half. I hope this jump starts him to continue playing well. With Ingram out, we'll need him.

Kudos to him Obasohon and Taylor for blowing it open in the 2nd half!

We really need Coleman, Hale, Obasohan, & Edwards to hit outside shots during the season. Doesn't have to be just 3 pointers, but the 15-18 foot jumper, too. That will really open up the middle & under the basket for Taylor, Hall, & Kessens.

Hale is sitting this one out.

Hurt, in doghouse, something else?

I was watching the game on DVR time delay.

Announcers said Hale wasn't playing, but I didn't hear a reason.

Apparently some unspecified medical condition.  http://www.al.com/alabamabasketball/index.ssf/2015/12/live_updates_analysis_alabama_3.html

72-60

Quote
The Tide (7-2) led by as many as 23 as eight different players scored. The lead hit 51-31 early in the second half as a 13-0 run was capped by a Justin Coleman 3-pointer...

CAJ said in his post game comments Hale is possible for Oregon on Monday but doubtful.  :(  He never said what the medical condition is.

Yeah, that was the first I had heard about the medical condition. I hope it's nothing serious.

Man, I hope it isn't that same foot he had surgery on. This really worries me. A real talent & I don't want him rushed back to action unless he's 100%

Medical issue huh?

I may be wrong but I think it might be an off court issue that's labeled as medical and I won't go into any detail because I have no facts of anything. My opinion is merely based on how CAJ worded the reason for him not playing last night and that he would be able but probably will not play in the next game either. Coach sounds a little irritated. ;)

Interesting, plus the announcers danced around the issue. Very unusual. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the inside scoop.  The way they all talked about it, it sounded almost disciplinary, but it was labeled medical.  Maybe Hale was using something "medical."
