Brandon Greene emerges as unlikeliest of targets to kick-start Alabama's overtime offense
(http://media.al.com/alabamafootball_impact/photo/greenejpg-86781451f4114fa3.jpg)Greene's career to date has been a "heck of a journey," and Saturday's catch was a definite high point.

Quote
"I'm just excited I can help the team out at the end of the game in a crucial moment of the game," a reluctant Greene said in the first post-game interview of his Alabama career.

With Alabama riding high after Adam Griffith's game-tying field goal, Greene lined up as an eligible receiver next to left guard Arie Kouandjio. Left tackle Cam Robinson, all 323 pounds of him, lined up in the slot.

While Robinson waved his arms to serve as a decoy, Greene ran a route down the middle of LSU's defense. Blake Sims lofted a 10-yard pass his way. Greene grabbed it and promptly tucked it away. It took four LSU defenders to stop him from crossing into the end zone...

"Brandon, Brandon, Brandon..."  :worship: :worship: :worship:

Having not been a star of the team, he will always have a great memory to take with him after his playing days. #+

I actually yelled at my computer monitor, "Who are you and where did you come from?" at the end of that play.

....and then came the penalty.  >:(

But we showed character and got the TD anyway.

When Greene was stopped at the one and the penalty came I had a terrible feeling that Bama was going to settle for a FG try, and who knew how that would turn out.  So glad things worked out, despite Brown's best efforts to prevent it from being so.

Same here. What a great throw to White for the TD. Then my feelings changed. I really felt we had won the game there. I knew we would stop LSU. The D didn't let me down. Best 3 and out of the year.

We couldn't settle for a FG. The team was on a roll, it was time to get the win.  Glad the coaches saw it that way too.  Bama never would have won a FG battle.

Thanks for the correction. Math was never my strong suit.  :lol2:
