Game notes: Bama vs AU

Have you or anyone else heard if AJ, Foster, or Drake were injured and this affected their performance? Why did Drake not return to the game, did I miss something? Thanks.




 

Foster was not injured. CNS said they went for it on 4th and 1 because we have been a good short yardage team all year. Griffin tried the last kick because he makes them at 60 yds in practice all the time.

I don't think Drake was hurt but I do not know why he or anyone else did not play in the 2nd half. I think CNS felt each possession was so important he wanted Yeldon in the game.

I think AJ was fine.

I don't know if AJ was hurt or not but I don't think his throwing motion looked good at times.  This may be because he had to look down for the snap so often it threw his timing off.  I also question why Drake didn't get a few more carries.

I have a question about the off setting personal fouls where we also had a holding call. I thought the barn player threw a punch at D White. D White in turn pushed him but who wouldn't. I thought a punch was an automatic ejection. I was surprised they called that off setting.

Did the barn player throw a punch or was it just two players pushing and shoving?

 

I definitely saw a punch, but I guess the refs didn't.

For some reason they don't always throw players out for throwing a punch.  The bad part here you have to take one for the team.  They would have marked the holding off then marked the dead ball personal foul with an automatic first down.  Think of the clock Bama could have run off with a new set of downs in the red zone.

This game was lost because of missed assignments on both sides of the ball along with the lack of focus which caused penalties that hurt the team.   There were too many mistakes on both sides of the ball for Bama to win   AU played hard and made the plays at the end to win the game. 

Three missed field goals by Foster
One made field goal lost due to line movement
Unable to gain 1 yard on 4th inside au 15
Many bad snaps
Several dropped passes
Missed assignments on every defensive play


Alabama played their worst game of the season. 
au played one of their best games of the season.

I am not sure why Drake did not run in the second half.

Drake disappeared after Fowler's TD catch.

I think he was disciplined, but I do not know.  If you watch that series he is being pretty mouthy and boisterous.

I truly felt that the die was cast when BAMA did not go for it on their first 4th and short possession.

I knew that this was the game where Sunseri would be missed the most and not having Kelly compounded the personnel loss.

Not to take anything away from au, they beat BAMA, but a team often wins with help from their opponent.

Coach Saban preaches that every player must do their job on every play to get to the desired outcome.  Saturday shows what happens when you don't do what Coach Saban says.  ROLL TIDE!!! and thanks hscoach for your analyses this season.  Was looknig for a couple more but it looks like it ain't gonna happen!

Lindsay was telegraphing the snap on shotgun/pistol.  He snapped the ball right after he looked forward.  As soon as he starts to move his head you know when the snap is coming and can time it easily.  The one time he hesitated on 4th and 7 (a designed play call to draw them off) they came flying across and got an offsides penalty.

I've often wondered how much a home crowd's yelling affects a visiting quarterback. Not much, I suppose.

Coach Saban is now 4-3 against Auburn.  Amazing.
