Andy Staples (SI) and everone else on the outside looking in seems to be looking at this from the wrong perspective. Arkansas is not probing this to find reasons to fire CBP. They are trying to find reasoning that can minimize the damage. MHO is that football at Arkansas (and Alabama) is more important than a few lapses of judgment that will be all but forgotten by September.

Everyone has to hop up on the self righteous horse every time it happens to someone else. CNS can do my sister on the BDS 50 yd. line marker at halftime of the Spring Game (then lie and say he did not) if he gaurantees another NC for 2012.

I really hope you're just trying to get everyone fired up, because if you are serious, then you are part of the problem in sports and in our country in general. It's not about just winning, it's about integrity & character and what we as a nation believe in.

I think he survives with a very hefty fine from the university, something like $500,00 with no pay raises for the next 2 years. Mrs. Petrino will be much more expensive.

Yep.  Technically, she was already on the University payroll.  It was ridiculous for Petrino to move her under his supervision.  And lie.

I don't think the delay is to figure out if they can fire him.  They already know they can do that.  The delay is because they want to keep him around if they can, and they are waiting for the initial bombshell to blow over and access the damage.

Had a chance to read the whole story this morning. I change my ham sammich to he's gone. The state trooper guy will avoid firing by telling all. This won't Be good for BP. He basically acted unethically and illegally vis a vis hiring the woman. Then he essentially fled the scene of an accident and conspired with a state trooper to cover it up.  Is their president gonna believe that this guy can still be effective in his role of keeping at-risk and easily influenced young men from behaving badly and dishonestly? The president should fire him and he will fire him.

Good point. I had not thought of that. If he turns out to be a serial adulterer, he is gone.
