I don't think he survives this one. Ethics is suppose to be a big thing I thought in recruiting. Look at the Big Guy at Ohio State and he lost. All that he built down the drain. You do it in darkness and it will eventually come to light. Don't laugh for really does. I guess integrity means nothing anymore. RTR!

I think he should come completely clean.....explain a little more about the relationship and who instigated it in the first place, and when did it start.....wasn't she supposed to be getting married in a few months, and if so was her future husband totally in the dark about everything.....Coach Pee should provide all the intimate details and pics Grin

If Petino survived it...Petrino will as well, it goes to show all, that the man is human..he made a mistake, he wil overcome this.

To each his own but I'm not all that big on seeing pics of CBP naked.

SC's picture/video clip of CHN getting the news on CBP may be the CRS "Post of the Year" for 2012 so far. Applause E-Cred

The affair is between him and his family.  But the fact that he hired his mistress is Arkansas state business and will probably decide the outcome.

Maybe what he was first attracted to was her intellect, organizational skills, and willingness to go the extra mile business savvy.

I feel sorry for Petrino.  But it's his own fault (or hers).

He clearly wasn't thinking things through.  The chance of having an accident is pretty small.  But he is the head coach of the university and he is riding around the state without a helmet on with his mistress/employee on the back of the bike.  Did it ever occur to him that one of those people driving past him just might recognize him?

Andy Staples from Sports Illustrated weighs in:

Quote
To be clear, Petrino is most certainly not the only coach in America who has stepped out on his wife. The affair isn't the reason Long placed Petrino on paid administrative leave Thursday night.

This is why: It appears the highest-paid state employee in Arkansas hired his mistress to a department job. Later, he lied to his boss, in turn allowing the department to release the lie and appear -- at least for a moment -- complicit in the cover-up. (Which it was not.)
Now, Long must review the situation and weigh that information against this information: Petrino is 21-5 over the past two seasons, and the 2012 team appears to be better than the 2010 or 2011 teams.

"I'm at the beginning of the review," Long said. "I don't know what I'm going to find."

Even if that is all he finds, Long probably has enough to fire Petrino. Petrino's contract is pretty clear on this, forbidding the coach from "engaging in conduct, as solely determined by the University, which is clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of Head Football Coach or which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the University or UAF's athletics programs in any way." In legal parlance, "review" could mean "meeting with the general counsel to make sure we're allowed to can this guy without paying him." After all, what manager can trust an employee who would lie to his face and put the entire organization at risk?

I feel sorry for everyone involved, I still remember some of the ridicule and garbage slung our way after the Price / strippers  articles........it is a shame for Arkansas football team, just when they seemed ready to make a serious run......I was looking forward to it!

Andy Staples (SI) and everone else on the outside looking in seems to be looking at this from the wrong perspective. Arkansas is not probing this to find reasons to fire CBP. They are trying to find reasoning that can minimize the damage. MHO is that football at Arkansas (and Alabama) is more important than a few lapses of judgment that will be all but forgotten by September.

Everyone has to hop up on the self righteous horse every time it happens to someone else. CNS can do my sister on the BDS 50 yd. line marker at halftime of the Spring Game (then lie and say he did not) if he gaurantees another NC for 2012.

But he better not give her a job in his department with tax payer money.

I really hope you're just trying to get everyone fired up, because if you are serious, then you are part of the problem in sports and in our country in general. It's not about just winning, it's about integrity & character and what we as a nation believe in.
