10 minute miles are fine. Matter of fact the "experts" recommend 20 minutes of cardio, so if you are doing 10 minute miles for 2 miles...tadaaaa!!!!!  Applause E-Cred

I knew the 20 minutes of cardio thing. I get on the treadmill and do a quick warm up about 1/10th mile and then run 2 miles and cool down. It takes about 25 minutes on the treadmill. Then I do some light upper body weight work to try and tone up. I'm only in the gym about 45 minutes.

45 minutes is plenty of time, and you are way ahead of 98% of the rest of the country!

One last question and I will let you get back to saving peoples lives. What brand of running shoes do you use? I just bought a pair of Asics Gel Nimbus 12 ($50 off too) and they are the most comfortable shoe I have ever wore.

I kinda float around, but I always wind up back with Brooks (Adrenaline GSR's). I did get some of the new Reebok minimalist shoes, I like them for speed work, and when racing in a 5 K's. I really enjoyed the last Pearl Izmui I bought too. Bets thing I ever did was go to a running specialty store and have a gait analysis done.

BTW I am off duty today. Just kinda hanging around the house, between watching the boy and still having some stomach cramp issues, I'm not doing much else, so you certainly aren't bothering me.

Yeah, so has drinking a protein shake, and then laying down. No motility going on to help break down the proteins. No fat in the diet to help break down the proteins. Means protein laying up in the gut, like a giant boulder on the highway, if'n you know what I mean.

Sorry for thread hijacking but this reminds me of a Bama story. When I was in school (1975-79) we had a cross country guy named Wolfman. I don't think it was his real name but he came from Canada. He could run to B'Ham and back. But every time I went out on the town there was Wolfman. He drank beer all night until 1,2,3 or 4am almost every night. Then the next day you'd pass him somewhere around town, running. I never saw him around a classroom or carrying a book, but that is a separate issue. I was curious so more than once approached him with questions about his siuccess (all-SEC). He swore to the benefits of beer.  I realize that alcohol will dehydrate, among other detrimental things, but Wolfman swore to it. I'd love to see him now.

Not a derail at all. I'd love to know what kind of beer he drank! I don't mean that to sound smart @$$, I am serious. I think that there are some great carbohydrate benefits to beer, but not this sugar water stuff that most people drink today. The fact that he came form Canada may hep attest to this. I also think that as we age our bodies process things a lot differently, so at his age (back then) beer could have helped more than it would help me, at my age. ( Remember Hank Jr. singing "...and hangovers hurt more than they use to...") There are sevral cities that have " pub crawl races." Start at one bar, drink a beer, take off running to the next, drink a beer....some races are set where each beer is heavier, so you might start with a Miller 64, and wind up drinking a Guinness Stout before the final run. I would have l;oved to have done this...20 years ago...
