I am challenging myself to: run 100 miles and drop 30 lbs (100 miles  +30 days =130) in 30 days.

Rools are: I start today and go through the morning of July 28th.
               Weigh in's daily.
Any miles put in on the bike will be reduced by 75% and then added in as run miles. ( example: 20 miles on the bike would = 4 miles running.).
Rain Days = tread mill ( ipronounce it dread mill).

Today's run 3.3 miles Today's weight = 231.0 lbs.

I am posting this, not to brag or " hey loo kit me" but fir accountability.

I have considered adding: drop 10.6% body fat. That would make the total 140.6, which is the total mileage of an Ironman triathlon. But I dunno...I will decide by the end of the day.

Any help, motivation...( positive or negative) or anything else would be much appreciated.

Hate the song, never saw the movie.

I have to use a calendar to time myself.

2, I have  dropped form 265, down to 230. I just really plateaued at 230. I got down to
225-226, but I packed it right back on when I made the lil' fishing trip to Messico Beach / Pt St. Joe. I figure the only way to bust through the plateau is to do a challenge like this.

Thanks Ricky!!!

Yea if you have hit a stall spot you need to hump a bit more for a while and you will break through and then get a little of a back-off for a couple of days then explode of course you know the deal. Good running my friend. RTR!

Well, that tells you right there that you can do it. You've done it before. By the way, Mexico Beach is awesome. Stay away, though, for your challenge.

I tell you brother, you've got humongous steel cajones to attempt something like that. I'm not sure that I have run 100 miles in my 36 years of life. I hope it works out, and I will be pulling for you to succeed. I'm not quite as ambitious as you, but I am attempting to lose about 40 pounds myself.

The first 30-35 came off very slowly. So slowly that most people who saw me on a regular basis never really noticed. People who I saw sporadically over the moths were the ones who noticed.

I may have to postpone the challenge for a couple of days, I woke up around 3:00am with
some stomach cramps. ( No, WV I am not getting my period! Undecided)

I have considered going to a local "diet doctor." The people who have gone, and followed his plan, have done really well. I just feel like I would be admitting defeat if I go to him. I already have people ask me what I am taking. My response so far has been, " I am taking my ass to the running trail and dragging it around the 3.3 mile loop!"

Rueben, I'm curious, how long does it take you to run 3.3 miles?

Let's just say I use a calendar to time myself, instead of a stopwatch.  Embarrassed

J/K

It depends on several things, on a flat road prolly just under 30 minutes. On the trail it's usually around 34, hilly asphalt  somewhere in between. I am slower now than I was in the spring when we had such low humidity. A lot of people who run start to think their training is going backwards, and try to over dissect their training, diet, etc to see where the problem is. All they need to do is look at the weather, the heat and humidity will zap you quick. Training  in this stuff will make someone much faster when the fall rolls around.  Taking in safety and not over pushing it. At this point and time in life I am really going to start pushing for distance over speed. The ol' slow twitch muscles have taken over, discipline is the order of the day. Ultra marathons may be my eventual goal, as it is a totally different type of running.

I was just wondering. I have always tried to stay in shape but the older I get the harder it is. I run 2 miles on a treadmill at the gym at least 3 times a week. It is much easier than outside for all the reasons you mentioned. I run 10 minute miles which is not fast but it seems to give me a good workout.

10 minute miles are fine. Matter of fact the "experts" recommend 20 minutes of cardio, so if you are doing 10 minute miles for 2 miles...tadaaaa!!!!!  Applause E-Cred
